The case of Liam Henderson is puzzling to me, I don't think he is injured yet for some reason he can't seem to get near this Celtic team. Under Lennon he was given a chance in the 2nd half of last season and I thought he done ok. Certainly looked a sure bet to kick on and progress this year. Instead the opposite has happened, for reasons unknown Deila just doesn't seem to fancy him, which is his right as a manger and one that I think more could understand were our current midfielders in a bit better form. I'm not proclaiming him to be the answer to our midfield problems and I'm also aware how players have a tendency to get better the longer they are missing from the team but I seem to rememeber Lennon praising Henderson to the Hilt for his work ethic and willingness to learn and improve. Two qualities we are told Deila takes very seriously. Does he have a future with us or should we be looking at at least loaning him out come January ? Edited by kevtic, 14 Aug 2015, 10:52 PM.

Definitely has a future with us. Was on the bench last night I think and has recently scored a hat trick for the 2nd team and has earned rave reviews in last couple of 2nd team matches. Seems to be able to pick a pass more often than not, something that is critical in Euro matches. |

Send him on loan in January, get a few games under his belt, maybe he'll come back like McGregor and be pushing for a starting place. |

He's only 18 so he's getting as much game time as I would currently expect at this point. He played at Inverness and like most that day probably didn't help his case much, but whether he should have been exposed like that in an XI largely filled with other inexperienced players is another question. He was on the bench last night and I fully expect that if he is good enough he'll get games. We are not exactly stacked with stand outs in there anymore. Since the start of the season we've had injuries to Brown, Mulgrew and Johansen in there, and possibly even Bitton. I think he'll be in the squad for the season unless we strengthen that area in January. |

I think RD has said that he is a good young player, lots of potential etc but who is not at the level of first teamers yet. Think we'll have to trust his judgement. IIRC, he was played toward the tail end of last season when th pressure was off and we had a few injuries. He did well, but we've had fingers burned that way before. I wouldn't mind loaning him to Hearts or HIbs in January; it's a wee shame we didn't do it earlier but then RD would have wanted to have had a good look at everyone. |

I agree about the loan but why Hearts or Hibs? If he is being loaned out in Scotland it should be to an SPL team. |

He was my man of the match v Inverness and unlike any of our other midfielders he actually looks like he can control and pass a football. If Bitton is out of the picture, Id like to see him get a run of games with McGregor (or Tonev who replaced McGregor last night) left out for a few games. It would balance the midfield more and hopefully help to shore up the defense. |

I think he'd be more likely to play in the championship; he will benefit from some of the best coaching and training facilities outwith Lennoxtown/Aberdeen/Dundee Utd; I don't like our players being in a position of competing against us; he will experience some big games whilst having an expectation to win and it will serve our stretgic interest of helping keep sevco where they belong. We now need more than a player who can pick a pass. Dinamo were big, strong and fast last night. Their work ethic was superb and their only weakness was a keich goalie. if our young boys are going to break through they are going to have to get tough and fast as well as skilful. no room these days for the wee barras who would have the crap kicked out of them. Maybe Henderson is not tough enough yet. New game in Europe these days.......and we will have to learn it and teach the boys....not everybody plays like Barca any more! |

Got lots of game time pre season and now seems to have dropped out the picture. Kayal is in the last year if his contract so Deila possibly wants to see what he can offer. |

Henderson is still only 18, so there's no rush at all to play him in the first team. But I don't see why he couldn't contribute more than Johansen in the middle of the park. |

Going by last seasons form, and his form in the reserves, Henderson could come in and improve the midfield as it is just now. Whether that is best for his long term development I don't know but he should be at least getting some game time. That he isn't when there have been so many players underperforming is puzzling. I don't know whether Deila wants the senior players to get more time in the system or if he thinks Henderson isn't ready yet. That McGregor(I know I know different position) can get so much game time when Liam has barely featured is again puzzling.
