Played really well today. Was involved in some our best chances. Very tidy on the ball and commits men in the middle of the park to create wee openings.

Played well today, never hides and is always on the move.
I would say the opposite. Lack of presence in the middle of the park and his lack of movement off the ball today resulted in him hiding behind Caley players.
Lack of presence is the last thing I would criticize him for, as he is always making himself available for the pass. He's not a great tackler but wins the ball frequently through interceptions and pressing opponents.
Always hiding behind Caley players.
It's the same old story, we can get away with him against 11 journeymen but when we come against the slightest bit of quality he'll get found out.

I thought that was an excellent piece of management from Brendan Rodgers. He knew that Callum would be the fall guy for Tuesday (if there could ever be a fall guy for a Celtic team failing to win in Germany) and he stuck him in today when many others might have expected Rogic or Henderson, and I think he did alright. Wonderful ball through for the first goal, and he always looked composed in possession.

Never a first team player, but he has a part to play at the club. Definitely more an Inverness than a Mochengladbach player.

I think the fact McGregor would be even slightly consider "a fall guy" for Tuesday night speaks volumes about the prejudice against him amongst our fans. The fact the miss is still being dwelled on is ridiculous.

He's a tidy footballer. He's young and Scottish and he's come through the academy. We know he has limitations but he has good qualities too and he's a good squad player to have.

McGregor rightly got criticised for his miss on Tuesday night.
My criticism of McGregor isn't based on some irrational prejudice against him, it's an opinion formed from watching him persistently disappoint against any kind of decent level of opposition. This opinion can change if he actually performs against a few decent teams, just like my opinion of Armstrong is being to shift.
The cliches of "tidy player" and "never hides" are ever present on this thread, but watch yesterday's game again and see how many times Jozo or Eric bring the ball forward and there isn't an option in the middle from McGregor. Watch his movement, or lack there of, off the ball failing to create any angles to receive the ball. That's not to mention the several times he was easily disposed by some Caley journeyman in a nothing game. These are all failings that are accentuated against better opposition and time, and time again he is found out. He'll then look "very tidy" during a 2-0 win over Hamilton at Celtic Park the next week and the whole vicious cycle begins again.

Agreed mate, some people are never going to like him though and seem completely blinded to the job he does for the team.
I watched the highlights again there and he's involved in all the good football we played. As well as the Sinclair pass, it was his ball through to Dembele that resulted in Griffths getting a tap in. He also played a fantastic ball to Griffths in the first half that he was unlucky not to score with.
Someone posted in the match thread yesterday that he has the most assists in our team. I don't know if that's right but wouldn't he surprised if he did. For a guy who's not a starter I think he always does well and puts a shift in. Our best football is also played with him in the team and he links really well with Rogic.
This "he hides, he doesn't tackle" pish needs to stop. It's nonsense.

As far as squad players go I think he's ok, and that's from someone who badly wanted rid of him a year ago.

We've always had players like that and we always will. need players like that in the squad.
A point many have missed. At this stage he's a good squad player who will push on or face being replaced further down the line as this pool is strengthened, which it will be.

Agree with that in Scotland, but if we're chasing a result in Europe he's not good enough to be one of the first options off the bench. But hopefully after another window or two he won't be.

It isn't at all ridiculous that people would discuss a terrible miss from a position which would have given us only our second away win in the Champions League and put us in a very good position to secure European football after Christmas. Whether it was McGregor or Dembele or Sinclair it would rightly have been considered as an opportunity that could have cost us two points. I don't think that pointing that out is indicative of some knd of prejudice.

He played well yesterday and demonstrated why his rightful position in the squad is as a player who can come in for games like this one to give a first team player a break after a tough European game.

It is ridiculous. Sinclair blasted over from a similar position in the first Borussia match(and again yesterday!) but it doesn't define his whole season and shouldn't for McGregor either.

Not a homegrown player. Not deemed good enough to be playing ahead of McGregor as it is.

So many people watching the same game and seeing different things. Think I will just trust BR's judgement. Maybe in a few weeks we will be seeing the same back-tracking of opinions as we are seeing now about Armstrong.
