That's two in two for McGregor. I'd love for him to have found his place in the squad at centre mid. He's pretty useful there, but not so much out wide.

Another home-grown player actually making it is always good to see, so here's hoping McGregor kicks on.

Average player, great attitude.

Never hides and good for a goal. Could be a decent squad player but never more than that.

He's scored 2 really good goals in the last 2 games but imo he will never ever be good enough to be a regular in Celtic's first 11 and it's a sad indictment on where we are as a club at the moment that he gets a game

I'd agree with that, what I like about McGregor is that he applies himself! I saw it mentioned on the Stokes thread about a player having ability and not trying a leg, I think McGregor is the opposite where for whatever reason he doesn't have the ability to be a prominent member of the first team but what he's lacking in terms of ability he more than makes up for in effort and application. It's one of the reasons Mark Wilson is my favourite Celtic player. I always have time for a player if they love playing for the club, irrespective of their ability.

On Thursday night he was always talking and listening to the coaching staff. That's why Ronny and Monaco Collins like him he has a great attitude and to be fair to him he is playing well.

The fact that he gets a game suggests that the team has come down to his level. He got a fair run in the team last season and he was poor. He will probably get another run now, and that should determine his Celtic longevity once and for all.

Yes I agree with you and that's why I said it was a sad indictment of where we are as a club (nothing to do with injuries) but the fact is he scored some goals for Notts County on loan and he's scored a few for us. ICT's top scores is on a loan or a free from Swindon, that's the level we're at. We have fallen so far in terms of quality in a short space of time that it's painful. I have nothing against the lad and thinks he gives his all but I feel that he is symbolic of the mediocrity that engulfs Celtic on and off the park, fans excepted!

What about Rogic? Couldn't get a game, now he's in the team playing and doing well. Is he a sad indictment or have just improved a player?

The point that both of you have missed is that he has now changed position. He didn't flop last year because we were too good for him, necessarily, and I think that's attested to by the fact that since he's come in the team he's scored twice from his new position, once against real quality opposition. Bad last year out wide - now he's playing well in a different position. Consider whether or not this is a turning point in his Celtic career because we've found a way to accommodate him.

Secondly, why would it be "damning" if a squad player comes in and does well when we have injuries? Isn't that what we should expect from a player who usually isn't good enough to start.

Not everything at Celtic is rosey at the minute but the negative responses on here to anything going on seem almost indiscriminate.

I also think McGregor slightly debunks the whole judging players based on their "level" idea. Whether you like it or not he'll score goals and sometimes against decent European opposition in big games. See Ajax, Maribor and Legia. It's a bit of a double standard to call him useless (especially when we're judging him on his performances out wide, which clearly isn't his best position) when he scores against good teams in Europe but may struggle domestically.

Rogic has had one, maybe two, decent games and been rotten in several others. He is a sad indictment of where we are as a team. Only in the team because Commons is ill/injured/ in the huff.

I'd like to see him get a run of games this season before completely discarding him.
Ahead of who?
Given the likes of Forrest or Armstrong can't play 2 games in a row or that GMS looks out of touch this weather, I would suggest any of those 3 at any given time.

Obviously a fully fit Armstrong would be my 1st choice every time, but.....
Nice to see ive been provn right on this. A modern day Simon Donnelly.

Look , the bhoy has limited ability, likevmost of his team mates..,.difference being he's got an eye for goal, more so than Forrest, GMS or Armstrong. He has to start.

I reckon that's 8 goals in12 starts today.

Simon Donnelly was a far better player.

He's playing well, hopefully him and Allan start next weekend as no one else who plays behind the striker looks in form. Is Forrest injured again?

Bit harsh calling him limited I think. Had a great start to last season, though was subsequently dropped after a few very poor performances. I had him written off myself, but proved me wrong this past 2 games. Thought his goal against Ajax was great. Dribbling with his left, before shooting with his right. Could be a good player for us....

...or could have another cataclysmic drop in form like last season.

You need players like that in and around the squad. Not everyone can start and you want the ones that do come in to do you a turn until the regulars get back.

Did his job well today.

Yep agree with this , hope he kicks on from here as some of the criticism of this guy has been harsh. if given the chance he would have been far more effective than Johanssen this season .
