Countless posts about MacGregors performance while Roberts escapes any scrutiny despite him being really ineffective and wasteful. Not everything came off for him especially the shooting but he was always there looking for the ball and on the main had us pushing forward.

But Roberts has played some blinders in his short time here, unlike MacGregor, who looks pedestrian at best

McGregor is neat and tidy when we have the ball but he is worth than useless when we don't.
Big Eric could have been sent off trying to recover McGregor's balls up in the middle of the park, not only did he give the ball away but he let a big cart horse run away from him. I say let because I think that he basically shampooes it from far too many players. Wee guys like Iniesta, Xavi, Scholes, are not the biggest but they have the guts to play in the middle of the park, McGregor doesn't and that's why he will never make it in the top flight!

He is bullied off the ball with ease. Wasteful and selfish today.

As another poster said, he is Commons-esque in shooting for the sake of it, and like KC, offers little defensively. Unfortunately, he's not half the player Commons is.

On an unrelated note - what on earth is he doing with his arms when he runs? Drives me mad.

Mcgregor had a couple of wasteful moments but was decent for most of the game. Roberts on the other hand was a total waste of space today. (Unfortunately, because I have been excited by his early performances for us).

I agree with you about Roberts. Looks very frustrated out there. I would start Forrest for now - he looked good when he came on today.

Gives the team more balance in midfield. Done a lot of good today but still done a few annoying things that probably get highlighted alot more by posters because its him. Still dont think he is the answer to our midfield but he is useful.

Terrible first half today then a much better second half.

Overall he's a good wee squad player.

Very wasteful, got a taste for goal yesterday and put what he wanted to do above the need of the team as we were in a winning position rather than helping kill them off. An immature performance.

Played well yesterday, other than that one awful moment where he almost sold the jerseys.

Moves the ball around well and I really like that he moves into space as soon as he has passed the ball. I actually think he knits our play together going forward a lot better than Bitton for that reason alone.

His shooting was off on a couple of occasions yesterday but he usually hits the ball well.

Just like Bitton and Brown, he's better than any midfielder any other SPFL team has. Two of the three of them is more than adequate for domestic football. But I don't think McGregor will ever thrive in Europe as one of two from those three (unless he significantly improves the defensive side of his game). And I think the same probably applies to Bitton and Brown. We need to get the chemistry right in the middle of the park and - whether we persist with a 4-2-3-1 or change to a flat three in the middle - I think that has to mean a proper defensive midfielder.

I thought he was brutal in the first half but had a very good second half.

I don't think you're going to find any criticism of Roberts in the McGregor thread

I'm not a fan of him to be honest. Don't think he's good enough to make it with us.

The passing against ICT at times was fater than ive seen the ball get moved about for a long time at Celtic. With that intense passing there are going to be one or two odd stray passes which McGregor was guilty of. All the same that ball through for Dembele was a peach of a pass and both his urgency and willingness to get into a game makes him a better option in there than some others. Unfortunately when he decides to shoot its either spot on or way off (no dofferent to most players) however he could bring others into play more often.

A really decent player to have about, and its actually good seeing someone in the midfield who wants to pick up the pace and allows Brown to do similar.

Really brave on the ball - despite his sometimes poor passing tonight - but really cowardly in the tackle.
