A lot better than he is given credit for but probably just falls short of what is required to take us to the next level.

Nice to see a CM pass and move into space though.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep

He also offers a goal threat and has scored some good goals for us already.
He had a good run and shot last night which id like to see him do more often.

Was that the 'shot' in the second half that went straight into their keeper's arms with no pace at all and therefore gave them possession, when there were two or three of our players looking for the pass ?

That shot ??

Do you expect every run and shot to be tucked away in off the junction?

Compared with last season, shooting is something I'll never criticise anyone for if it's on target. Calum shoulda kept that one low and looked for his usual deflection off the shins rather than the guys waist.

He's more than good enough in Scotland but would like to see a top class midfielder in there with Brown.

i like Calum, he is good with the ball in tight spaces, but i think he gets bullied out of the game easily and hides for long periods in a match

Not as bad as some make out and a valuable squad player but shouldn't really be starting games in Europe.

Wouldn't sell him if he is happy to have a squad role.

Now that we've improved on last year he looks out of his depth. Shows how bad we were last year.

Squad player at best.

Yeah I'll go along with that. Useful guy to have around, will no doubt have a few good games over the course of a season, but right now isn't quite of the quality that we'd like to see in a first choice midfielder.

We need squad players and if they have came through the ranks all the better. Good guy to have around but when the window shuts he will be a bit part player albeit a very useful one.

I thought he had a great 1st half last night, he carrys the ball well and rarely gives away posession. Will be a good squad player for me, as some games will suit him a lot better than having Biton in there.
See him in a different light. He consistently misplaces passes and gives possession away.
He is not nearly good enough.

By far our sloppiest player, imo.

I thought he had a very good first half but did terribly for the goal and deserved to be subbed.

The Griffiths thread is full of people commending Leigh for the huge improvements in his game after stating that he isn't European class. Brown and Forrest are getting similar praise for rediscovering top form after being totally written off on here. Why are people so adverse to the possibility that McGregor can improve too?

No harm to the wee guy, he's an honest wee tryer with a bit of ability. The way we're going and the level we want to play at is too high for him, like Armstrong he sticks out like a sore thumb.

This. A decent player, but never in the starting XI. Remember that game Deila subbed him on and off? Riddy. Thoroughly deserved, mind you.

It has all been said, great wee player to have in the squad but we need someone a level above for the Champions League proper.

Completely agree. No idea why he gets such a hard time on here.

The general consensus is he tries and works very hard but is a decent back up player and not good enough for the CL level - That is hardly damning.

Still young, plenty to learn and there's always room for improvement. Despite whatever limitations he may have he always gives 100% and runs himself into the ground, sets a good example for other youngsters looking to break into the squad.
