Mishampooting passes? :ph43r:

Thought he was actually the Celtic player who mishampoo his passes/ gave the ball away the most frequently last night which is not like him tbf.

Haha no

Linking up play with quick passes, keeping the ball moving and getting forward

I think it is one of his major flaws(giving the ball away)but perhaps it isn't
noticed as there are much bigger offenders.

Backed him last season as he was an undeserved Whipping Bhoy for some - This season the faults in his game are being exposed and he is now the main weak link in the team - Competition will either improve Gordon or he will become second choice (I think the latter tbh) - McGregor can make himself look busy without actually contributing much at all - Not in a hiding in plain sight Stokes kind of way as McGregor does try he is just not good enough - He can't /won't tackle he runs alongside the opposition player but that is it he won't go for the ball - Watch the two goals we lost last night the first one he puts his hand up in a futile attempt at an offside claim and he then jogs back following the play expecting O'Connell to rescue the situation instead of trying to help O'Connell despite the fact he knows O'Connell has been dragged out of position to cover for the awol Lustig - The second goal if you watch it closely he eventually ends up at the edge of the box as the ball hits the back of the net.

He may suffice as cover for the SPL but the sooner the new midfielder is in place the better.

I thought he had a very good first half last night.

His tackling is definitely an issue which he needs to work on and he was lazy at their first goal.

I agree, funny how people will overlook that though.

I wouldn't call his part in their goal lazy, I just think he can't tackle at all. If we had a proper DM in there I don't think he'd need too, but we don't and it looks like Rodgers doesn't want to play with one either.
This means McGregor is going to have to learn to tackle and very quickly, if he's to stay in the team.

Rodgers obviously likes him and he is important to the way that we play, hopefully he can improve him as he's shown that he can contribute. This is only his second season playing that deep role for us, he's previously improved after having a poor spell. I think he's capable of improving again

The things Rodgers thinks McGregor has to work on, he will most certainly work on.
He will become a better player & will improve.
I do think we need a better player in there, than he is right now - but he'll improve over the season & make his own contribution to a great season.

McGregor can take a pass in part of the park and is composed and tidy. But physically last night he was shown up. Their big athletic midfield dominated him, deposited his high work rate.

We could have been doing with a wanyama in there last night

Agreed. I actually don't think he's having a poor spell - I think he's playing quite well. He just needs to work on the defensive side of his game, which I've no doubt he will do.

He's just turned 23 and he's got tonnes to learn in general and in that position. But I do like him as a player. He looks for the ball, he does the basics well and he has good technique.

I thought he had a great 1st half last night, he carrys the ball well and rarely gives away posession. Will be a good squad player for me, as some games will suit him a lot better than having Biton in there.

He also offers a goal threat and has scored some good goals for us already.
He had a good run and shot last night which id like to see him do more often.

He used the ball well in the 1st half but we need a more accomplished player in there imo.

Was that the 'shot' in the second half that went straight into their keeper's arms with no pace at all and therefore gave them possession, when there were two or three of our players looking for the pass ?

That shot ??

No harm to the wee guy, he's an honest wee tryer with a bit of ability. The way we're going and the level we want to play at is too high for him, like Armstrong he sticks out like a sore thumb.
