Anybody who think I'm being harsh just look at things. Is he as good as a young Brown? No. Is he as good as Petrov? No. Is he as good as Ki, Wanyama, Bitton or even Kayal? No Robson or Hartley? No .

This is why we struggle. Players like McGregor and the rest you think I'm being harsh on just aren't good enough to get us where we all want us to be. Be honest with yourselves.
I find it really bizarre that you don't think McGregor is good enough, but in the Armstrong thread you think he could be good enough.

That's plain weird.
The best Armstrong has done for us is better than the best McGregor has done. Neither have been consistent enough. I think Armstrong has potential but I might be wrong & he might not fulfil what I believe his potential to be.
I don't agree with that at all, Armstrong has done nothing in his Celtic career so far. McGregor has played much better yet gets a lot more abuse.
McGregor has also dealt with that abuse and came back a better player who doesn't hide. Armstrong has not.

As for potential, Armstrong is actually 2 years older than McGregor and is a worse player. Its strange that you think Armstrong has potential and not McGregor (going by your argument) when one has clearly shown he has what it takes to play for us.
Armstrong actually spoke a while back about how he was finding it mental tough to play for us. McGregor has taken all sorts of abuse and came back a string player, it's really clear who out of the two has potential to play for us, it's the one who's actually doing it right now.

Hardly his fault for being better than those you mention, put it this way he's been streets ahead of Armstrong who you rate.
He isn't streets ahead of anybody. He's had a few decent games and deserves praise for that. He works hard and is getting his rewards. However if you think he is anywhere near being good enough for where you want the club to be then you either have very low expectations or are letting something cloud your judgement. The only reason he is viewed as half way decent at this time is because of the regression of the squad and it's individual players. This isn't an individual attack on McGregor as the same can be said for most positions but I am still a loss why fans who moan about the standards at the club all season can't see the eagerness to accept averageness is a problem.
Think you missed my earlier post regarding the quality we need to be signing, my point being we have spent money on the likes of Armstrong, large wages on others that look disinterested, more than a few who have been nothing short of a waste of a jersey, that's a bigger problem than McGregor is.

Do you honestly think I'm happy with what's being served up? Don't kid yourself. I'll tell you what if the likes of Moyes comes in I'd hazard a guess that McGregor would get more game time than quite a few, others have covered various other points on why he deserves his place.

He's been a regular on merit, the same can't be said for his more experienced / skill full team mates, that's the bigger issue.

McGregor is a better footballer than Hartley and Robson.

And we got to the last 16 with them in our midfield.

Cracking wee player, constantly passing and moving into space.

Show some great skill in beating Shinnie and then the composure to pick out Lustig.

Think he's really underrated by a lot of our support.

Start of the season I was far from his biggest fan, felt he brought very little to the squad, a bit player who I felt was never going to make the grade with us.
Glad to see him develop through the months, think he's been wonderful at times, full of energy, commitment and a great attitude.
Was make or break season for him this year, he's made it for me.

I thought we made a big mistake giving him such a long contract but it looks like he will prove to be a useful member of the squad. He's knuckled down, shows for the ball, gives a good shift and likes to have a pop at goal. I'd still like to think we'll acquire better players that won't see him as a 1st choice pick but he's not bad to have around. Loved his play in setting up Lustig's goal today.

More than happy to be proved wrong about the lad - delighted he is getting praised and hope he can continue to build on his current progress.

He's improved but still isn't good enough. Squad player at the very best. Fans wonder why we struggle both domestically and in Europe. Players like McGregor are the answer
Bollocks!

He's deserving of some praise for the effort he puts in, but you have got him right.

If you think Bitton, Ki, Kayal, and Robson were superior to him at his age then I understand where you're coming from. But I think you have that all wrong.

I still like his style of play more than I like him. That kinda player is exactly what we need in midfield. No more carthorses.

I didn't think he was good enough but he's been very impressive lately and has done enough to be in and around the squad next season. He has a chance.

People underestimated him previously because he was hit and miss previously. But he has definitely improved and has become quite an intelligent footballer.

I do still think that he could do with a bit more muscle as he can be easily brushed off the ball, so he is far from being the complete midfielder. He needs to be in a balanced midfield, one that has a ball winning defensive capability to allow him to attack. In some previous matches we have had McGregor and Mackay-Steven in midfield and we suffered from being too lightweight.

Another big plus point is his ability to score goals - he is actually a good finisher. It will be interesting to see how he prospers under a new manager.

Ki is an excellent player. Wish we had someone approaching his level now.
