After we conceded the penalty on Saturday, he was the only one trying to get the boys up for it, to see out the last 5 mins or so, doing what really should be Browns job. Maybe that was the Celtic fan coming out in him. Whatever it was, I want to see more of it.
Celtic fan? I thought he supported someone else in his younger years?
If he wasn't then, he is now

Loved his final touch before his goal on Saturday. Such a delicate control to just take the ball away from the defender before hitting the shot.

Fair play to the boy, when given a chance in the team he does tend to make the most of it unlike numerous others that play for us week in week out.

Who cares, he's a Celtic fan now... At least he'd better be!

He was (is?) a hun.

Doubt he's much of one now, mind, though he certainly acts like it :ph43r:
Only when he's in his car.

He's a better player than I may have given him credit for.

Fair play to him for making the most of his opportunity in the team. The last 2 games (Morton and Partick) he has been particularly impressive.

Playing well just now and is in the team on merit.

He's also free money on an anytime goalscorer bet.

If it was Armstrong playing and scoring likemail McGregor, we would be raving about potential and ability. I have been so critical of this guy in the past but he is showing up for the manager at the fans when others have chucked it

He plays where the manager puts him.
He tries his best.
He goes forward with purpose.
He can carry the ball at pace into space.
He finds a forward pass more than not & seldom loses possession.
He tracks back when we do lose possession.
He cares.
He leaves nothing on the pitch & gives 90 minutes.
He really can finish. (Worth giving penalties to?)
He knows that he has to do all of this to get in the team & that if he doesn't then he's out - he doesn't spit the dummy or get his mates to try getting him back in the team, if he does get dropped.
He's homegrown.
He's 22.
He'll be on buttons & has 4 year contract.
If he continues to develop (Ronny buzzword alert), then he'll be mustard.
Work rate, energy, tackles, passes, scores.
Doesn't hide.

Screw the nut, work hard & let's see where you get to Callum.

Well said. What's not to like about a player that does all this. granted, he has a lot of making up to society to do after his drink driving charge but that shouldn't detract from our opinion of him as a player.

I think he's a cracking wee player. Runs like his arse cheeks have been glued together but he definitely deserves to be in the team. Well taken goal at the weekend too.

His attitude is good (on the pitch at least...). He has got decent technical ability i.e the ball doesn't end up 5 yards away every time it gets passed to him.

Like all of our 'wingers', he has at least one pretty fatal flaw. In his case it's that he is slower than slow - which is a bad flaw to have since it's really difficult to address by coaching.

If we were any good he'd be a squad player (think Jamie Smith under MON). At the moment, he's probably a decent shout for the first team, although I think Armstrong is a better prospect than him in the long term.

He's not a winger and he's not slow.

I still think there is a player in Armstrong but McGregor is younger, technically superior, a bigger goal threat and actually gets himself involved in games.

Has one fantastic asset - the ability to score goals from midfield. If, and it's a big if, he can improve other aspects of his game he might have a chance of becoming a regular starter. The problem with players like McGregor though is that once the goals dry up, there's little to fall back on. Craig Burley was a tremendous asset for us in 97/98 because of his goalscoring ability from midfield. But as soon as he went through a lean spell, more and more folk started questioning what he was bringing to the party.

Up to him to prove every time he plays. I think he´s already a starter.

Is it not obvious he does more than score goals? He holds the ball well, can pick out a pass, tracks back when not is possession. The goals are the icing on the cake.
