The thing that I really like about him is that he is always looking and moving for the ball. Too many of our players pass the ball and then stop moving. For that reason alone, he deserves to start at the moment.

After we conceded the penalty on Saturday, he was the only one trying to get the boys up for it, to see out the last 5 mins or so, doing what really should be Browns job. Maybe that was the Celtic fan coming out in him. Whatever it was, I want to see more of it.

When a player puts in obvious effort, shows for the ball, wants to drive forward, can chip in with a goal or two, is in the main not guilty of missed passes, goes in to challenge, tracks back etc... Why would you deny him a place in the team. If he's keeping someone out then let them step up and merit a first team place ahead of him.
At the moment he's miles ahead of Bitton for me. For all those reasons. The only one Bitton seems capable of doing right now is find a Celtic player with what is usually a simple pass.

People just don't seem to like the idea of Callum McGregor.

He's the most commonly groaned at name when the team sheet is announced. Whenever he has a good game praise is often given grudgingly, such as "He played well, but he's never a first team regular/squad player at best". And of course most of his goals are apparently flukes.

If he was a new unknown signing from Eastern Europe putting in the performances he has we'd all be raving about him. He's technically one of our best players, is genuinely two footed, versatile, offers a very real goal threat and is probably our hardest working along with Tierney.

I think it's been so long since we had a quality central creative player coming through most fans forget or don't make provision for the growing pains in developing a player like that, particularly in a side that has not been doing too well.

After struggling initially in the broken system of Barnes I think Petrov was our last decent one to emerge and his game was a fair bit more defensive minded; There was the older (at the time) Miller but most of us got it completely wrong with him, Liam was nothing more than decent enough to forge a career in football and we dodged a bullet wages wise. I hope a good few might have got it wrong with Callum again, he looks a real good prospect to me and is putting International colleagues to shame with his contribution.

The limited`player carry on is looking shaky because he keeps doing things his teammates can't, his finish at the weekend was beautifully composed and as he gets more game time we have witnessed again some nifty footwork and quick passing that is consistent with quality, he chases back too.

If he has reached a ceiling then he will only be a decent squad player in better times but I'm inclined to believe there's more to come should we continue to nurture him properly and if he really wants it, the drink drive thing has to be a one off incident for starters.

I think that's a fair analysis of him to date - good post mate.

He look slightly glaikit and he runs a bit funny but nine times out of ten we get something out of him in a game.

Agree with this.

When he got the ball in the lead up to his goal I knew something would come of it; he has a knack for making / scoring goals and unlike a lot of our current players is brave enough to run at the goal on his own rather than stop and introduce supporting players to fall back on.

The way he runs with the ball makes him very hard to read too, i'm not saying he is anywhere near Robben (far from it), but bear with me, the movement in his arms is similar (and unnatural) and it makes his shoulders difficult for defenders to read - as a result he is able to open up unexpected spaces.

His goal on Saturday was a good example, the defender would have assumed, as i did, that he'd go for the curler effort into the far post as has become his trademark goal. Instead he did the opposite, beat the defender and buried with his right foot.

As someone who was critical of him I think he's improved and does the right thing and the simple thing more often than not.

I like him, I think he's up for the title challenge and as a Celtic fan i'm sure he'll want to get some Hun skelped when the time comes.

Deserves his place at the moment, there cannot be many arguments against that just now. Hope he keeps it going.

I'd agree with the point above, when he got the ball on Saturday I knew he was going to score. Compare and contrast when Brown or Johansen get into the box.

He was (is?) a hun.

Doubt he's much of one now, mind, though he certainly acts like it :ph43r:

He might be an idiot but always looking for the ball, can beat a man and scores goals. He's more of a footballer than Tierney but doesn't get anywhere near as much credit.
it is his face.
It's true, he looks like a wee pig farmer's son who wasn't strong enough to do any of the real work.
:lmao:

Fair play to the wee man, he's become one of our more important players at present. People might look at that and say it's a damning indictment on the team but someone has to see us over the line. IF it's him then all power to him; he's living the dream and seems to have found a way to get better when it seemed like he was reaching his ceiling. A very good player for us for now over a period of months - let's hope it extends into seasons. I always like to have a player like that in the squad, if not starting every week.

At the moment though he definitely deserves to be in the team every week.

He does run funny but he appears to have added an extra yard of pace to his game in the last few months. I might be imagining it but he definitely appears to have got quicker. :suspect:

There's something about his demeanour/body language that makes you think he's just playing at being a football player, but he seems to have a consistent knack of getting his shots away and scoring.

Not seen him much lately so can't comment on his improvement but he knows the way to goal which is something more than our other midfielders.

Playing well recently. Knows the way to goal and has decent technique.

Deserves his place at the moment.

He was (is?) a hun.

Doubt he's much of one now, mind, though he certainly acts like it :ph43r:
His family are massive Rangers fans (or at least his brother is anyway).

He's played with Celtic since he was about 12 I think and because of this from what I gather never really bothered with 'supporting' us or them.

So, reading between the lines here, you're saying he hates Huns?
