Dosent matter if you are on minimum wage working in sports direct or £10,000 a week footballer - anyone who gets behind the wheel of a car over the limit is an irresponsible pumpkin and should be punished severely

#getrid
If he is guilty of driving with excess alcohol, apart from shown to being stupid he'll get fined and banned; nothing more or less. That is his punishment in the eyes of the Scottish law (assuming of course he's not guilty of some other associated crime, in wish case he really would be in the doodoo).

God forbid what the pious on here would think of the antics the Lisbon Lions got up to
Not sure that criticising anyone for drink driving is being pious.
If he has been drink driving then he's an ass and should be dealt with by the law.

There it should end.
Precisely :)

Why? The law will not punish him for anything football related.

He should be punished by the club if he has broken any rules or conditions of his contract.

If he had just been out getting pished then there would be no punishment from the law. He would still get it from the club.

A lot of footballers are idiots, there are a number of ways they can prove this, drink driving is one of the best.

Totally agree. Only said that he didn't deserve any sympathy.

It's really unusual for a footballer to commit a driving offence.
The London Rd Police used to hang about watching for CFC players driving from Celtic Park - Hooper was pulled up close to ground for "Illegal Windows ".

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/celtic-star-kris-commons-exposes-877209

A few others have been caught speeding along London Rd , Lennon was charged with using phone but got off!

http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/13120583.Neil_Lennon_cleared_of_using_mobile_phone_while_driving/

Being out at 3a.m. with a drink, driving is just inviting trouble - he´ll learn the hard way it´s totally unacceptable !

Nowadays, a bucketful the night before can leave you over the limit in the morning.

It's really unusual for a footballer to commit a driving offence.
My personal favourite was that banger Pennant.

"The Premiership footballer Jermaine Pennant was jailed for three months yesterday for drink driving while banned.
Pennant, 22, crashed his top of the range Mercedes into a lamppost while more than twice the legal limit, then drove off with the post dragging underneath the car.

He pulled into a car park of a leisure complex where he was arrested. Police said his eyes were glazed and his speech slurred.
When questioned initially, he gave a false name, telling officers that he was his Arsenal team mate Ashley Cole"

Claiming to be Ashley Cole, of all people, is the most shameful part.

And what's your point? If you want to drink leave the effing motor and get a taxi it really isn't difficult :ffs:

If he is over the limit then no sympathy deserved.

And why is he out at 3am 2 days before a game with all that's going on at the club at the moment.

A baw hair is too much. There's a limit for a reason.

Total overreaction on here with the political correct brigade .

If he was a bad hair over the limit then he would have be fine if stopped in England. I suspect that many of the people wanting him hung out to dry for this are either too young to drive, or so holier than thou that they would fit in with the Christian Right.

I wonder how many of the Lisbon lions would have failed under the current drink driving limits. Many guys have had 1 beer and drove home.
