He has only played one game ffs
My thoughts exactly.

This season in the league we should be giving the youngsters more gametime, get them in the squad and use them. Atajic,Henderson and McGregor have all shown potential. They just need time on the park.

I grew up with Callum. We both played together with Bosco Juniors. Both left wing. The effer always had me on the sub bench.
He wouldnt be playing for Celtic if it wasn't for my dad. He managed to get him scouted. The Celtic scout was watching our game and was seeming to leave disinterested until my dad pointed out that young Callum happened to be two years younger than everyone on the pitch. We were a 91 team and he was born in 93.

That peaked the scouts interest who then approached Matt, (Callums dad).

So theres my dads claim to fame... He's so proud of him. Coached him from the age of four untill he was picked up by Celtic.

I really want him to do well.

Funny story his dad told me. Callum's family happen to be die hard Sevco fans and a few happen to be in the lodge. Callum was a big Rangers supporter. Untill he was scouted that is. Callum's dad had a load of the family over to watch the old firm game. I think it's the one we won 1-0 with a last minute Thompson goal. Anyway. All of Callum's family are over and Thompson scores and Callum goes mental running around the couch celebrating. That was a very insulting moment for Callums bitter hun uncles :P

Thought it was a reasonable enough debut for the lad (though I would have subbed him rather than Griffiths). Of more interest is the number of goals he scored last season for a piss poor Notts County side, I think that shows a lot more promise and possibility than his fairly average (goal apart) debut for us.
Good luck to the boy, hope he's the new Hooper (only with more ability and more ambition than Norwich and cash)

Runs like James Forrest.
First thing I noticed!

He looks very comfortable on the ball.

Not convinced he'll make it, but an excellent start.

At this moment in time looks like a good replacement/back up for commons

Seriously?

A young boy, who has played one game in which he was absolutely average despite managing to score a fairly lucky goal, looks like a good replacement for our most important attacking(if not overall) player?

He's played one game and people are saying he wont make it. Bit harsh.

We dont write off new signings after a single game so why our youths?

I'd like to see him get a run of 5-7 games see how he does.

At this moment.

There's not much cover/competition for Commons and his role just behind the forward(s) in the squad right now.

Back up/replacement :ponder: . Commons offers little except goals.
So what does Callum McGregor offer then?

The same by the looks of it hence why he looks like he will be a good back up for commons.

True.

Does that mean that McGregor looks like good backup, though? You both seem to be confusing 'good' with 'only'.

So a few goals for Notts Co (and I'm sure you watched all his games) and one lucky goal for us, makes him a back up to Commons?

You related to Lawwell?

I don't see anyone else in the squad that can play there and offer a goal threat. Ideally commons will be getting moved on and replaced with someone better. "A few goals" "lucky" you obviously don't rate the boy - fair enough. 14 in 40 for notts county, an under 21 international, came through the ranks for us and just scored on his debut. I don't really see the problem in backing the boy and giving him a run in the team never mind referring to him as a good back up.

We will never know unless we give him a chance. Our new coach clearly thinks he has something.

Again, you seem to be confusion 'good' with 'only'.

If Commons was to get injured and miss a large part of this season, bearing mind how important Commons was last season, would you be happy at McGregor taking his place for CL qualifiers, never mind potential CL group games, difficult away games at Tannadice, Fir Park and Pittodrie, possible games against the huns or at Tynecastle in the cups?

If you would be happy with that, what is that based on?

Again you seem to have missed "at this moment". Hopefully we will sign a creative midfielder to replace commons. FWIW apart from a stunner against Karagandy commons was pretty poor in Europe and we would win the league easily with mcgregor playing every game.

I've not missed anything you have posted.

Again, what you are missing is that just because he is, at this moment, the only replacement, does not make him a good replacement.

The fact that you are now saying that you hope we will sign someone else to replace Commons is evidence enough that McGregor would, at this moment, not be a good replacement for Commons.

If he was, you wouldn't be wanting someone else signed.
