Between his tracking back and the way he recycled possession, always showing for the pass, even coming deep for the ball, he was brilliant last night. I like the way he zips the ball into feet, none of the lazy passing that we often to see from Johansen or Izaguirre.
"Recycled possession". I've heard this phrase a lot this season and still have no idea what it means!

Receives the ball, moves it on quickly. No dwelling on the ball.

He was excellent at it last night. Also carried the ball up field a few times looking to make the killer pass.
It was a great midfield performance, really happy for the boy as he takes some amount of abuse.

Sometimes feel as though this guy is dammed if he does dammed if he doesnt. Ive seen it often over the years where fans have their whipping boy. McGregor however seems to get limited praise even when he does produce the goods. Almost as if it doesnt matter he played well because hes still shampooe.

Poor attitude from some folk, with a bit of encouragement the boy could be a decent player, not a world beater but decent enough. When you think of the patience and the leeway shown to a couple of other players in the squad its actually pretty crap.

Is holding onto the ball for a while before moving it on composting?

A pet peeve of mine with Johansen is that he often runs 20 yards to play a 5 yard pass. He is our worst composter.

Average player in good game shocker. It happens.

He will get found out in that position* against better teams.

He's had more than one good game in that position (including against better opposition).

I see you've upgraded your rating of him to "average" at least. ;)

He played well last night. I liked the fact he was always going looking for the ball and always seemed to be first on the scene. Never wasted many passes either, whereas Johansen does. A lot.

But, as has been said, we have to look at what he was up against. That Accies team made him look like Luka Modric.

He's better in that position and has had a few encouraging performances there. There is no need to ever play him in the other role with the amount of options we have there (barring an injury meltdown). He is not suited to it and is like a man down when asked to play it.

Watching him last season was beginning to get pretty painful but credit where it's due to him and the staff for persevering and working on improving. We don't do it anywhere near enough with our younger home grown players, so should be happy when it does happen.

Unlikely to ever be a favourite but shows signs of progressing at least.

You mean like some of the poor passes he played against Utd last Friday?

I had him as my MOTM but my God some are going way OTT in their praise. It seems to be a trend online just now to talk players up to unrecognisable levels.

The perfect squaddie. Will never be brilliant but has a very specific skillset and can apply himself well when given a run of games. Will drop in form again at one point as all squaddies do, but he's one I would keep for years to come. Fills a Homegrown slot, he's a decent player, is showing a willingness to work and improve and can also cover several positions.

I love a good comeback story so nice to see him appear this year after falling away so badly last year. Will probably never become a fans favorite as said above by Forza but he's a good enough player to come in and help out domestically for sure. Genuinely made up for him though - he's living the dream.

He may rarely be in my first pick eleven but I'd have him as part of the eighteen most weeks - some players bloom later than others, let's see what he's capable of in the future. As it stands though I'd happily keep him around that squad.

You can say that for negative opinions of players as well though. Ciftci being labelled the worst Celtic striker ever when weve had roasters like Bangura and Wayne Biggins play for us is ott. Thats the way of most football fans now, theres no happy medium, no good players or players who do a job, Theyre either on form and therefore one of the best in europe or they are one of the worst players ever. Either way it goes ott

To be fair, Bangura & Ciftci are much of a muchness and Wayne Biggins isnt exactly a decent reference point for folk under 35.
