He is very un-Scottish in the way he plays, more Spanish-like, love the wee guy, the 2nd half of Ronny's last season he showed when most were phoning it in that he had quality, Rodgers has taken his game to a whole other platform, he's one of the first names on the team sheet in these type of fixtures
I wish some of the fans were more unscottish sometimes, guys like McGregor might not spend half their career trying to prove they are not crap.

Come out and admit you were so wrong...

I guess we all celebrate great victories like yesterday's in different ways.

It’s not about proving he’s not crap, it’s about consistency. He’s a big game player, but if you want to be a first pick or to be considered a top player, you need a level of consistency.

Armchair fans will remember the performances against Bayern, Zenit, Bayern and the Huns but probably don’t see the months in between when he’s posted missing.

Also pulling the I told you so, doesn’t wash. Whose to say we wouldn’t have gotten just as an effective performance from the likes of Edouard, Musonda or Roberts?

I haven’t criticised McGregor this week. I didn’t want him to play on the left side but fully expected him to play. My beef isn’t always with McGregor, I just think we have better players sitting on the bench.

He was outstanding yesterday and as I’ve said, I think that’s the best he’s played for us.

Ffs - he wasn’t posted missing in all those games anyway

He’s doing just great this season - not just yesterday - enjoy it

I’m only responding to the “told you so crew”

I’m as happy as anyone else. McGregor made my top 3 in the MOTM thread, and it was difficult to justify only 3 yesterday.

I appreciate that the fans that go to the games each week want to see great performances, but decades of football should have shown by now that quite often the week to week games are just about getting a result and damage limitation.

Players get criticised for not turning up in the big games and rightly so, but for a good while now McGregor has been doing just that, even going back to his days under Ronny when he had just broken in to the team. He has always looked like a great wee player to me.

That’s not the way it works though. After the Bayern game at home, he had a run of about 6 or 7 games in a row where he was playing 90m every week despite being howlin. Whether this was due to squad management, I don’t know, I hope it was because there was no real cause for his inclusion as he was so badly out of form for a good couple of months. Then he comes up with a brilliant performance in a big game and all of a sudden, the past is conveniently overlooked, yet players like Boyata and Bitton get hounded.

He is a good player. He’d probably be the best player at any other club in the league, but i still believe we have better players who are often sitting on the sidelines and don’t get the opportunity. The manager clearly rates him for those types of games and that’s fine, I don’t have to agree.

I do like him and he’s continuing to improve.

He was absolutely brilliant yesterday. I appreciate his qualities and the option he brings.

Whose progress has McGregor stalled by being given game time?

Perhaps you have to look at the team performance before criticising the individual. McGregor suffers if Tierney isn't playing well having to cover back more. Ntcham being under par can also have an effect. If Dembele isn't his normal mobile self McGregor's take and give game can't flow. He has tonnes of technical ability, perhaps as good as anyone we have bar Rogic and Roberts.

Not bad seen as he’s played left back, left mid, right mid, midfield and one of the two behind the striker.
Great wee player!

So out of 36 starts, he has scored or assisted 18 times. A 1 in 2 ratio if you like. That's pretty influential.
