Played well tonight.

He may be more suited to European football than domestic games. Like Kenny Miller was.
The shape of the team suited him better, but it's not a shape we would play domestically. Credit where it's due. He scored a fantastic goal. That was a top class finish. Put in an enormous amount of closing down work, as did Kouasi and Brown. Reading the pre match thread, it was written in the stars that he would make the difference. He found a bit of form tonight, which was very welcome.

Good to see you stayed true to form and didn’t put him in your top 3

Not a fan. Excellent tonight though.

Which is the level headed analysis of his recent form and his performance tonight.
He has been pretty poor (as have many) in the games where we’ve struggled to create and was rightly dropped. Brendan showed faith in him to perform on the bigger stage tonight and he was really good for the whole game.

What a bitter wee comment.
Bitter? Not at all. Just the professor treating us to his infinite brand of football wisdom. Brendan Rodgers should be nowhere Celtic according to Einstein.

Not sure why folk are baffled at McGregor starting, it’s not a new thing in the big games.

Don't understand how you don't think he merits being in the top 3 :hmmm:

Thought he played really well and took his goal very well. Covered some amount of ground and never hid for the whole game. Best performance for a while.

Could see the logic in him starting ahead of the likes of Sinclair but I didn't see a performance like that coming given his recent atrocious form. But that was something else and his touch and finish for the goal was top drawer.

Had a brilliant game tonight, and rounded it off with a brilliant goal. He's taken a lot of stick over the last few months as his form deteriorated along with the team's. So he deserves the plaudits tonight.

CM will never be the answer to a lack of creativity. He's a far more effective player coming from deeper, supporting the forwards, or bursting into the gaps to run beyond the defenders. For a lot of that his game he needs someone up front he can link up with, or who can batter defenders around to create gaps. Dembele gave him that tonight, and he responded.

It was a relief to get over the line. For all his faults, he rattled that in suberbly, and for that alone, I'm glad he stepped up his performance tonight. It could have been 3 or 4, and he played his part in it. On that basis, get off his back for a while. Maybe Sinclair will show a similar attitude to being dropped. Just do it when you are on the pitch, and can influence games. World class finish.

Love his attitude. We have better players in his best position, but he never seems to let his head go down, always puts himself in the mix for selection. Doesn't surprise me that the manager picks him in big games.

Great performance tonight.

Delighted for him. Has taken some unfair stick over the past few months - yes his form had dipped but he wasn't the only one and the idea that he should be anywhere near the team was totally OTT. Great performance and great goal.
