Cracking performance from a cracking Lad.

Delighted he has finally been getting the recognition he deserves.

wont be a popular opinion but for me he misses far too many chances and doesnt really have a killer pass in him. long term we should be looking for better.

Should have had a couple last night but generally I think his finishing is pretty good for a MF. He's the sort of player that links up well, keeps play ticking over and finds space. Killer passes aren't a big part of his game.

Nothing outlandish about that - he's a squad player who came through the ranks. He has improved a lot over the last 18 months though and deserves his place in the team when he gets it but he's not the best we could ever hope for in his position.

a bit like saying we can't play both Tierney and Gordon. :ponder:

Rogic may indeed be off form ( he's not alone), but no way should McGregor play in his place.

Was wasted in first half being wide to replace Roberts.
Much better second half and one of the best players on the night I felt.

Aye, making the difference on a consistent basis is the next step for him. I like him though: he's a good player with a brilliant attitude.

He's exactly the type of decent youth product that should become the bedrock of the club. Johann Cruyff once discussed how clubs should be building teams around the solid youth products who have known each other for years and what the club means. The club can then purchase in that element of magic they cannot produce themselves. I realise McGregor is in a position that requires that element of 'magic' but he's flexible enough to have a long term career at Celtic with Forrest, KT and hopefully many others.

Up until this week he has been sticking a lot of the chances away.
The boy is a key player in this team.

Getting noticed in the reserves

He isn't the best we can hope for in his position but most of our players are the same, I would love to have a much better player than him but there isn't many out there in our reach. If we do find one that is we will be doing really well.

He is a good player that is still improving. For me he has been our 2nd best midfield player this season outwith Brown and he rarely has a poor game. He isn't a squad player either, he is a first team player without a doubt. We rotate a lot in midfield but he has as many appearances as most. People don't call Armstrong a squad player so why do we do it with McGregor?

Where does McGregor play if Rogic starts?

Callum doesn't have the craft for a 10.

Good wee player though. A ten needs something special, like Stefan Johansen or Tom Rogic.

If Rogic starts, and he should when fit, then McGregor or Armstrong alongside Brown would be the other two midfield starts right now.

And McGregor - I think - has had a better season so far than Armstrong.

Agreed, the McGregor/Armstrong/Brown three is fine( ish) for Europe for legs etc, but when we play loads behind the ball you need the guy to see the pass or create a yard of space.

Ntcham deserves a chance.
