Now that he's finally got that call-up I'd be surprised if he wasn't part of the squad for the entirety of the next qualification campaign.

(I would say for the WC but... you know...)

If he gets some game time then he's definitely in for the duration.

Glad for him he is deservedly in the squad and hope now that he is he gets picked just as long as he doesn't get injured - International Football especially Scotland has cost us dearly with injuries over the years.

Rodgers seems to encourage they participate if they want.

And they all want to as does almost every footballer. We may approach these games with trepidation, not unjustified btw, but players look upon International caps as being the culmination of their efforts in the game and we shouldn't seek to deny them this.

Really should start him against Slovakia. With LG leading the line, we’ve got McGregor who will be familiar with his runs etc.

Strachan will play McGinn

Tbf, McGinn will be full of confidence after a cracking double at CP.

Just don't get how anyone can rate McArthur. He looks as slow as a week in jail.

More likely to be Fletcher, McArthur and Bannan.

Agreed, never rated him. With Armstrong and Brown out surely Strachan sees how effective McGregor has been, has to start for me.

McGinn and McGregor would probably be my preference Thursday night but Strachan will probably play Fletcher , McArthur, and Morrison ahead of them.

I think you're right. He was raving about Bannan at the weekend. And he wouldn't want to give the impression he's swayed by the stupid fans and journalists by picking players everyone thinks ought to play.

We'll draw this game.

McArthur was starting even when Brown and Armstrong were fit so I guess he'll be playing. He was absolutely dire for the first 30 minutes of the Lithuania game, before settling down.

Strachan will definitely want someone to replace Brown's experience, and Fletcher has played the full 90 mins in every Premier League game for Stoke so far this season. Albeit, it's not a reflection of whether he's actually any good anymore. They'll be looking for someone to do a job on Hamsik, and I guess that'll be something they ask McArthur and Fletcher to try to do between them, as much as they are likely to be ill equipped to do it.

That leaves the Armstrong position. The pecking order probably goes something like Bannan > Morrison > McGinn > McGregor in Strachan's eyes, if you look at when he has selected players in the past. He might opt for Morrison as he's seen as a bit more attacking, but he's been talking about how good Bannan was against Leeds at the weekend, while Morrison never played for West Brom.

I don't expect McGinn or McGregor to start.

Scotland would do well to get a draw. Slovakia are much better.

Not convinced they're that great. Full strength I think we'd beat them at home.

I saw Bannan at the weekend, not hard to stand out in a pish team against pish opposition in a pish league. The English Championship is for the most, utter garbage. There are some relatively 'big' teams in there but the quality of football is guff. Sheff Wed coasted to a win against Leeds after getting pumped off Sheff Utd where Bannan was, like most of the Sheff Wed team, useless.

I noticed how when describing the 3 players McGregor, McGinn and Bannan he was gushing about the latter two and not so much about McGregor. Or maybe I'm reading too much into. McGregor should definitely start but I think you're right and he'll only be sub.
