Picking John McGinn over him is actually ridiculous.

Good stuff, he can just focus solely on Celtic then

Hopefully Broony does too after this round of Intl fixtures

There are people who think he isn't one of our best 3 CMs. :twitch:
Probably because he isn't.

Sorry, I meant one of the three most suited CMs (to our system).

There are people on KDS and Celtic podcasts that still say he is crap

Which podcasts "still say he is crap" ?

I listen to a few, cant remember which one it was. It was in regard to his new contract I think.

Find it very strange he can't get in the squad considering some of the dross that fills it., would have thought the contribution that CM makes to the Celtic team along with how well our players played together last time for the national team would make him a cert to get in. Maybe it just sticks in strachans craw that Brendan gets the credit for the Celtic players scotland performances or possibly bit of history with strachan and CM, was he still at the club when CM broke through?

Strachans such an idiot( being nice here). If he had been less obstinate and picked the Celtic six or seven earlier, we wouldn`t be in the position of scrambling for points. How he can`t see that McGregor is a class act, I`ll never know
There are people on KDS and Celtic podcasts that still say he is crap
No, on kds the accepted thing now is to damn him with faint praise. This is usually done by preceding the praise with "I'm not his biggest fan but....." or "He would not be my fist pick but I won't complain if he is in the side"

has he upset Strachan somehow, because I can`t for the life of me figure out why he is not regularly playing for Scotland. He is a shoe-in
Oddly enough I recall GS, who was in the Sky studio, being very critical of him for his part in Clint Hill's equaliser at Parkhead last season. It's stuck in my mind since then and it could just be that he doesn't rate him.
Even I can't fathom how he's not in the national team.

He's been excellent lately and I suppose it's only because we have an embarrassment of riches in midfield right now that he's not starting every game for us.

'Best 3' is an irrelevant argument on it's own - it needs the context of the opponent, the date/circumstance of the game and quite often a better option is to have someone on the bench who can offer a tactical adjustment anyway.

Great sub by BR. McGregor gave us some movement and shifted their back 4 about.

Not long after he came on, he received a terrible pass from a team mate, but still managed to retain possession.

Should have buried that chance, but was his usual excellent self when he came on. Great energy and movement.

He keeps the ball very well, is always available for a pass and takes us up the pitch. Makes the other players better.

Never lets us down.

Surprised Rogic got thenough start ahead of him, was his usual self when he came on but he really should have buried that chance.

Scared the living daylights out of them. His movement is so disruptive. Hope he starts against Bayern in place of Rogic.

Used to cry (well almost  ) when RD started him regularly when he first arrived as manager as it was clear he wasn't good enough then but one of the biggest compliments I can give him is that these days I find myself almost begging BR to bring him on to help shut up shop in tight games like last night and Saturday. It's the obvious substitution in these sort of games and more often than not, it pays off big time.

Pre BR, I'd have happily seen him leave but now? He is undeniably a big player for us.

Agree mostly, but I don't think CM should be brought on to 'shore up' games.

He should be brought on (if not started) to unlock defences with his movement and pressing.

Some games Rogic should start, some games McGregor should start. Horses for courses.

I remember thinking giving him the 5 year contract in 2014 was a silly mistake and a sign of downsizing and continued mediocrity. Fortunately I don't make football related decisions for a living.
