Scotland do not need Moyes. We need someone positive who can inspire and will pick the team according to form and nothing else.
:ponder:

though i stumbled onto the Managers thread
So had I

To the Manager's thread :arrr:

Strachan has lost the plot completely. McGregor is in the form of his life and yet Strachan doesn't think he's good enough for a 29 man squad :cuckoo:
No wonder Scotland are rotten when he keeps picking journeyman pish from the English Championship instead of one of the best young Scottish players in the league on current form.

McGregor has been on fantastic form. In such a big match they should have went with Armstrong, Brown, and McGregor in the midfield.

Ridiculous decision.

This may be good for us. One thing that can't be Denied about callum mcgregor is that he is a tenacious wee guy. Quite a few times over the last few years he has got slapped and knocked back. And the wee guy keeps coming back and proves his doubters wrong. He will be determined now to prove Strachan wrong and that will be good for us.

On a purely selfish level, it means his season is finished on Saturday. He's not involved in a game on 10 June when we begin our pre season on something like 19 June.

The June qualifier is an absolutely ridiculous piece of scheduling. No idea why the March qualifying week could not have 2 games instead of 1.

A bonkers decision to select Kenny McLean over McGregor. :ponder:

On what alternate planet does Strachan live?

Scotland in no way have the luxury of leaving a player like Mcgregor out? It was the same with Armstrong though as well as he should of been called in earlier than the last squad.

Typical Strachan. He's picked a succession of nobodies from small time English clubs and now he leaves out a player in form from a club sweeping all before them. Calum would have fitted in well with a number of team mates. Strachan is one overbearing, arrogant git.

I saw McGregor's photo in the BBC website and just assumed he'd been called up.

Strachan is at it.

And people (including Strachan) wonder why some players *choose to represent countries other than Scotland when they qualify to do so.

*not that i'm suggesting it is a choice in the everyday sense. There are and may be ethnic and/or cultural ties to these non-Scottish countries. But if one was 'choosing' partly on the basis of sporting choice, perhaps the fact that there seems to be a Celtic quota ceiling, who can blame anyone for playing for another country?

Edit: Strachan is a knob.

Zero doubt that McGregor's body of work since the last squad is far superior to McLean's and McGinns, and probably several others too

A typical Strachan decision, designed to show everyone how clever he is

His time in this job is mercifully almost up and I doubt we'll have to tolerate him again, apart from on our TVs

He's in better form than the other two, has more experience and has a better understanding of how Brown and Armstrong play the game. That familiarity would be a massive boost to a Scotland team that, man for man, isn't as good as England. Strachan really is cutting off his nose to spite his face here.

It's a bonkers decision to select McLean over Shinnie, nevermind McGregor.

I agree mcgregor should be in the squad and I am happy that he's not, so tht he can get a good rest and then be ready for the champions league qualifiers.....

But in fairness to strachan, he is usually very loyal to players who have served him well previously and gives them the chance.

Do disagree with him though..

It is good for Celtic if Calum is not called up, but his form means he deserves it and his endless movement would cause the opposition problems. Like everyone who has improved under Brendan, he has added a real desire to take responsibility and make things happen. Scotland could do with that.
