Liked how he took no shampooe from the Hearts captain, even if it cost a booking
Still can't believe the Hearts player got booked for that
Clancy didn't need to book either of them, it looked like they were just going to get a talking to, but Clancy loves giving out cards
McGregor's reaction was bizarre and it wasn't a booking worth taking.

He is a very good player who always does a good job. He is a valuable member of the squad.

Just shaded out Boyata & Jozo as my third choice in the MOTM thread. He's been a very consistent performer since Ronny Deila realised he wasn't an attacking midfielder and moved him deeper.

The Hearts player didn't deserve a booking at all though. McGregor reacted but the Hearts fella was just trying to usher Callum away. Wrong place at the wrong time.

Cost me a few quid with his squalid attempt.

Although the blame on the whole goes to Hinkel's beard who sent out his ruining voodoo thoughts and totally neggied my bet.

Brendan thinks he should be called up by Scotland. Comparisons with Joe Allen.

Moves the ball quickly, keeps play ticking over, similar style of player but Allen's obviously a much higher standard. Fair comparison.

I didn't think it was bizzare considering what went on with Lustig and some of the tackles dished out on the field in the early stages. McCann was talking before the game about teams dealing with the "atmosphere" that Tynecastle generates in big games, and while he specifically said "I don't think this Celtic team are soft" he was speculating that we don't like it up us and that could be a way to disrupt us. It was good to see us give a bit back when we could even if it was daft things like McGregor disrupting them taking the free kick, or Broony reacting like a throw in was ours and going to take the throw - even though it had been given as a Hearts ball, and Broony knew it

On McGregors ability, I think he's a decent player, I used to criticise him for turning off when defending and not noticing players running in behind him, but that part of his game seems to have improved. I also used to get wound up by him underhitting short passes and losing possession cheaply , but that also seems to have improved. He can spot a pass, and he's now delivering the right pass at the right time more often.

People laughing at him getting mentioned for a Scotland call up obviously haven't watched Scotland recently. Despite them playing EPL football, I would have rather had McGregor on the pitch than either Snodgrass or Morrison after 60 mins of our game v Slovenia.

He deserves his starting slot in the 11 at the moment on merit, hopefully he gets an extended run and shows even more improvement like Armstrong did.

There have been far poorer players than MacGregor have played for Scotland in the past few years. He should certainly be part of the squad.

That's right. I should have made that clear. Nevertheless he gives him a glowing report.

Bit more context for BR's comments

Think he makes an excellent point and what a lift for mcgregor to hear his manager saying that about him

A real vote of confidence and well deserved

Shouldn't have had to clarify your sentence. COMPARISON does not mean same as or as good as. (Dictionary definition- a consideration or estimate of the similarities or dissimilarities between two things or people).
Have always liked McGregor, I think he has great close control and is a quick thinking footballer. IF he can raise it a notch or two he will become even more valuable to us and maybe not just as a useful squad player. Perhaps he has reached his peak but I choose to think not.

Agreed on all of this. Particularly that McGregor is a much better option for Scotland than the fleet of Championship level midfielders currently getting called up. Fingers crossed Strachan hasn't noticed though.
