Done really well tonight, had a pretty decent season on loan to Notts County as we all know, I'm not sure he would have been given a look in under Lenny, I just hope he grabs the chance with both hands.

I thought like most of the team, goal apart, he had an average night. He certainly was not comfortable wide left in the first half. Good luck to the lad, but I don't think he's good enough for us.

I thought, like much of the team, he was pretty anonymous tonight.

A good turn and shot which somehow found its way into the net.

I don't think we should go overboard with praise.

would agree with that. like a poor mans commons from what i have seen. hopefully he can keep improving though

hes the kind of player who would thrive for another spl team who build their whole play around him.

I thought he struggled but didn't let it get to him too much, which is good. Did well to decide to have a go for the goal.

Haven't seen enough of him to form a proper opinion, but he does seem to have a knack for knocking in a goal or two.

Runs like James Forrest.

Seems to have a knack for scoring goals. For that reason alone we should give him a chance.

I wasn't overly impressed, goal aside. If, as remy said on twitter, he is a center mid then he has no chance of making it with us

I don't get this attitude at all. At this moment in time looks like a good replacement/back up for commons or whoever is playing in the central attacking role. He scored a lot of goals last season and has just scored on his debut.

Positive words from RD.

Speaking after the game, the manager said “He did well on his debut in an important match like this. He has big talent but I want him to be more direct, go forward and link up more with the full-backs – but that will come and I was very happy for him to score a goal.
“We have a lot of players who are good going behind the defence, like Leigh and Derk. They can play in a 4-2-3-1 as well, but they are more players who play in a 4-3-3 as they are more forward players.
“We need wingers who can also get on the ball and get in between the lines and do things and Callum is perfect for that. He has a quick touch – a little bit like Kris – and he’s calm on the ball and has a good understanding. He also scores goals. He deserved to play and that’s why he played for the 90 minutes.”

Was always moving and looking for the ball, made some nice runs into the box but the ball never came. Encouraging debut.

Good to see a young player given a chance. Hope Henderson gets a chance this season as well.

Agree, one great run, free in the box but one of the transplant brothers can't remember which one had a wild shot

Thought he played it safe in the first half, but maybe being his debut that was understandable. Second half he began taking players on and scored because of that.

Hopefully the goal will really build his confidence.

Difficult game for a young lad to make his debut, too early in the season and playing out of position. Put in a good shift though, delighted to see him score...certainly worth a wee run of games and hopefully we will see more young guns stepping up. They bring excitement, energy and desire to any game which is great to see.

Just need to find the right balance up front with our strikers, although I also like to see Biton in centre midfield to strengthen us up.

Some of the attitudes on here show starkly how difficult it is for our own youth to make it.

Our 'support' crucify any kind of budding talent before it gets a chance to flourish.

Woe betide any lad who has a run of poor games as he develops. Scoring on your debut in an away match in the champions league still gets you grief from the armchair geeks..............geez peace and let the lad have a chance.

The lad needs to be given time and a chance. Glad he got his goal but overall he looked nowhere near good enough last night. That being said Commons apart nobody looked good enough.
