Maybe at the next home game the guys who are planning on going should all enter the ground ASAP and all leave banners with the great word of a certain Jock Stein proclaiming "Football is nothing without fans", then leave just as the game kicks off........maybe give the board something to think about

I think the board are sandbagging for the Sevco challenge that is coming. They are spending hee haw now and taking massive gamble on champions league that this year has spectacularly backfired.

I'd honestly love to write something which would adequately convey my anger at Lawwell and Co but honestly I think it would get me banned. I am utterly disgusted at how dramatic our fall from grace has been. I've felt frustration before but my hatred of the current custodians is on a par with the Kellys and Whytes. Totally irrational of course but I'm being honest. The sooner that bullet proof sponger is gone the better. Celtic man, aye right.

I don't think we were sandbagging I believe we were being cheap.

Unfortunately there are still plenty of folk willing to defend him.

This summer has been the biggest of all shambles.

Its less than a week to go before the transfer window closes and to bring no players on permanent deals other than a goalkeeper who has been out of work for two years is genuinely staggering.

To try and appoint managers with mediocre records who were once great players showed a complete lack of imagination. To then appoint the planned No.2 as No.1 after the aforesaid knocked us back sums up the total lack of anything like a sensible plan for going forward.

I agree with Remy that I will celebrate PL's departure like that of Jock Brown.

Genuine question - any chance that an online petition for Lawwell to step down would snowball?
Petitions are pointless. The only action the board will take notice of, is people stopping turning up and a drop in ticket sales. I'd be reluctant to trust this board with another penny of my money. What should we, the fans, we expected to invest in the club when the board have no intention of doing so?

Hitting them in the pocket is the only language they'll understand.
Correct.

They won't be getting another penny from me this season. It is the only language they understand.

They won't be getting another penny from me either - but too many people are adopting this stupid 'faithful through and through' pish, which means there won't really be a noticeable drop in sales.

I don't disagree with your actions (quite the opposite) but to call the actions of other people stupid and pish is poor show.

For many people, Celtic IS their life. It's everything to them. It's their social life, it's their sense of community and it's the love of their life. You have every right to demonstrate your disdain with your cash just as it's other peoples right to continue to support their team.

Last year and this the board has been complicit in serving up a side that was clearly going to struggle to qualify for the CL Group stages. The question is , why? Too angry for words tbh, an absolute disgrace. Either invest or GTF!

the only challenge from the huns will come as a result of us hurtling back towards them at a rate of knots

we should be out of sight for a decade but i worry that mismanagement at the highest level has left that in doubt

There will be a noticeable drop in attendances, a Saturday home game for example is an incredible hassle for me to get to. To finish on time I have to start at 2am and work extra on Friday and Sunday to make up the shortfall, organising Granny to look after the wee fella is a hassle as well due to how much she looks after him for work purposes. It's a lot to ask.

Despite that I can make it. Right now I don't think I'll bother and stick to any midweek and Sunday home games, although even that now appears a chore.

Added to the money spent on programmes, pies, cup of tea, windfall tickets. Maybe not a lot, £15 or so but it's money they can kiss goodbye from now on.

Utterly utterly scunnered and pissed off with Celtic and the way they take us for granted.

I hope someone at Celtic is reading this thread. If so take this message to Peter Lawwell.

Leave and don't come back.

Sorry Bawman, but if you love the club and it's being completely mismanaged like it is right now, and then to think that continuing to support this mismanagement financially is the 'right thing to do' is definitely stupidity.

I can empathise with your sentiments

I hate Lawwell and the Board for the damage they are inflicting on our Club. However, I hate them more for how they are making me feel about the Club. It's been 20 years since I have felt this way - the pre-McCann era when I last felt so disillusioned and disconnected with Celtic.

Well I'm still ok with myself for following my team in the dark days (while attending rallys, handing out flyers for the rebs and generally voicing my contempt for where we had found ourselves) but I couldn't bear the thought of watching my club dwindle while the huns rampaged their way to silverware year on year. Call me stupid but my conscience is clear.

Withdrawing my cash now (ten quid a month for my Celtic TV subscription), would appear frivolous in the extreme.

These are different days but there are many ways to make change. Unless you have 30k with you on a Saturday afternoon you wont get your change in the way you are proposing. What you'll get is 3-7k not there that would be and a slow, lingering strangulation of our reputation and I can totally see why people are unwilling to go that route.

Like I said, it's apathy they're really afraid of at the corporate level and a crowd of 55k last night against some European nobodies does not communicate apathy to this board.

I'm actually embarressed at how angry I got last night with the board. I'm absolutely furious with how the club is been run. This is going to take a fortune to turn round. We need 7 or 8 players of quality when virgil is sold.

Hasn't there been some degree of apathy for a few seasons now, dare I say it since the huns' liquidation?

For instance I went with a mate to the St Mirren game last season, main stand, executive lounge with all the trimmings. He got two tickets for his birthday. (Highlight of the day was meeting Berti Auld - now THERE is a Celtic man).

Anyway, many spare seats around us both in the lounge and the stand.

Not irrational at all, Murph. Our predicament is a result of a deliberate plan by people who think they're smarter than they are. Too many fans let them get away with it, despite years of warning signs.

It's our money the board are dealing with. It's our season ticket money, merchandise and match-day revenues that they have. I think we underestimate just how powerful a hand we hold. Unlike say, for example, English Premier League sides whose income is made up hugely of TV revenue (in theory, one of those clubs could play to an empty stadium and still turn a profit) the low percentage of TV money in Scotland means that the majority of the club's income comes directly from the fans.

Turn that tap off, starve out the means to trigger another bonus payment for another board member, and we might see change. They've already almost reached the point of having exhausted the means to make money from selling the family silver. Once Van Dijk goes (and I've absolutely no reason to think that they board aren't trying to actively punt him) then I can't see anyone else in the current squad able to make us a similar transfer fee. In addition, the overall quality of the playing squad has been reduced to such an extent that we're unlikely to qualify for the Champions League anytime soon; so no 'platform' to showcase any further players for sale. And to add insult to injury - the policy of failing to reinvest profits back into the playing squad has reached such lows, that we're now not even buying players any more - just loaning them - effectively training them up, and gaining them experience for their parent clubs. So, even if these players do turn out to be successes - we're unlikely to see much or any of the profits for their sales ourselves.

And you've got to remember this has all taken place in an era when our biggest rivals have been absent - effectively giving us a free run at league championship and the chance to build a dominance and superiority for years and years to come. Instead, we've turned the clocks back 5 years. Absolutely disgraceful mismanagement from the current 'custodians'.
