Can I just point out that at the same time in Mowbray's reign that he had spent £5.2m.. Ronny has been given the grand sum of eff all to spend and that is entirely down to the board |

No-one, not a single person is excusing the board for their culpabilty in this. Legia sacked the dumpling that cost them their place in the Champions League, we should be doing the same. And by that I mean Lawwell and Park. |

The club is a shambles from top to bottom. Tory Peer Chair main and Irish millionaire landlords who standby treating the club like some weekend play thing. We don't seem to be any better organised than the DeidCo impersonators. Never felt so distanced from the club, that I have supported most of my life. |

While there be may many reasons for indivuduals to vote no, in the context of the PLC it in entirely apt to say that the board members are aligning themselves with the OO & BNP as they are moving further from our founding principles by the day. Edited by mr boots, 27 Aug 2014, 02:21 PM.

Ian Bankier has signed the letter in a personal capacity, and is noted specifically as chairman of his whisky company. Celtic are not mentioned and have not spoken on the referendum debate. So if we're going to discuss the referendum opinions of individual people, or companies other than Celtic, might I suggest we retire to the Indy thread? Thanks.

You can try and cut it any way you want but Banker is our chairman and signed that letter. If politics aren't welcome at the club he shouldn't be putting his name anywhere near any letters while in his current position. As this thread is about the board and this is just one instance of their hypocrisy maybe you should just let this go for now? |

If PL's say in transfers is more than just monetary, we're effed. Likewise if he's bouncing potential targets of Parks and Parks is a yes man, we're effed. If Parks or the manager have not realised we need some leaders on the pitch, we're effed. The management of the teams assets over last few years has been squandered and whoever is responsible should be booted round CP. The wage structure has provided a good cover for a lot of profit taking. As a result the team has no core and no leaders. Mulgrew, Stokes etc are squad players who gain their confidence from others and that's fine if you have your leaders on the pitch. We need more like Brown. He's not the best player, but he has enough in your face balls to fire up the other diddies in the team. Same problem as Man U at the moment, except we have best squad in Scotland, we shouid win league and we're still in Europe. |

We failed to invest in a striker when Strachan needed one (Fletcher) and we have consistently failed our managers in keeping Hooper or Samaras and nor have we been able to replace them. It's happened before and is continuing to happen.

All very idealistic Neil. Unfortunately, we've already progressed to stuff which has been done to death months ago in the Indy thread. Actually, that's pretty much where we started. We can pick either side of the Indy referendum and be embarrassed by the people who share our voting intentions, be they huns, OO members, or any other right-wing idiot. But as thrilling as such pointscoring might be for a wider audience, it's probably best suited to the Indy thread. This thread here has enough on it's plate discussing the Celtic board's mismanagement of Celtic.

Using Wiki as a judgement (I know it's not the best) but since Lennon took over we have sold £60m worth of players and spent £28m on players. Made more than double we have spent. Also factor in the two runs in the Champions League and how much we made from that. I don't understand why we are penny pinching at all here. The squad needs a lot of investment and by the looks of things we have brought in plenty of money to do it. |

If the club had major debts I could understand this plan but the fact that the club is on a good financial footing the lack of investment in the side is criminal. |

There's always an undercurrent of a patronising message from the board, always along the lines of "the fans don't understand economics; they don't understand money; leave all that stuff to us, the businessmen in charge". The same fans who know exactly what economics are. The ones who deal with it, in reality, on a daily basis, sometimes with job insecurity, managing debt, and balancing budgets hanging over them every single day. And they manage it. Seemingly much better than the 'businessmen', the economists and the 'custodians' that the likes of Lawwell and Bankier represent. All above all that, they also still find a financial commitment and dedication to supporting Celtic. And what do they get in return? The board can go eff themselves. I'll happily avoid giving them another penny of cash until their way of running our club ends of changes. Their choice. We'll be here much, much longer than they'll ever be. |

Genuine question - any chance that an online petition for Lawwell to step down would snowball? |

Petitions are pointless. The only action the board will take notice of, is people stopping turning up and a drop in ticket sales. I'd be reluctant to trust this board with another penny of my money. What should we, the fans, we expected to invest in the club when the board have no intention of doing so? Hitting them in the pocket is the only language they'll understand. |
