DD and anyone else avoiding tax should be held to scrutiny but anyone who thinks that him being highlighted in the coverage of all this isn’t an attempt to tar our club and in the process pander to their main demographic is delusional The biggest tax cheat in Scotland said himself “bad news about rangers doesn’t sell newspapers” It’s as true now as it was then and obviously applies to all forms of media |

Of course. If he's trying to hide his enormous wealth or luxury purchases from the tax man by exploiting obscure loopholes in the law, then it's clearly wrong. I don't care what country he is 'resident' in. It's stealing from the poor and people who rely on the public purse and services to survive. It's totally effing wrong. You don't agree? |

How is it stealing from the poor? When did it belong to them? Or do you mean he is depriving them of their share? Do you seriously think that if the UK government suddenly received an extra, say, £20bn per year in tax that that would find its way to the poor? If it’s a Tory government, it’d be used to cut the debt and give tax cuts to the rich and a 1p tax cut to the affluent middle classes. If it’s a labour government, it’d be frittered away on rubbish before it’s even been collected. If it was a liberal government, it’d be a mixture of both. Even if somehow they all discovered some largesse, the Tories would spend it in their rural heartlands and aspiring suburbia; Labour would spend it in English inner cities and it’s former industrial heartlands; the Liberals would probably try to buy back the student vote by lowering loans. All political parties and all governments are as bad as each other. I think we should also bear in mind that DD is accused of maybe, possibly, perhaps avoiding tax in Switzerland! Not exactly renowned for its global fiscal responsibility, is it? There is clearly a biased agenda and whataboutery at play by the BBC. That is very self-evident. The rest (ie the morality of DD’s tax affairs) simply reminds of two bald men fighting over a comb. |

A lot of sanctimonious and squirelly pish being spouted across t'internet about DD. If he's broke the law or defrauded tax payers then fine, go after him. No Tim will defend him if he's done any of the aforementioned but If he hasn't and has simply played the system then fix the system ffs. The BBC are an establishment mouthpiece and in Scotland just a shower of hurting huns who have ignored the biggest tax/sport/governance scandal in UK history because it's about their beloved Teddy Bears and their masonic pals. Cowardly, lying, Celtic hating, talentless bastards to a man and woman, GIRFUT! |

I think we can dispense with the mock outrage about the club's involvement in this. Whether you agree with it or not, DD has had a long history of 'creative' tax solutions, and it is relevant that he would be involved in it. The first sentence of his letter was absolutely ridiculous. |

So the story here is that rich people employ smart lawyers and accountants to pay less tax When did that become news Daly if he was a serious journalist should be following up his story from 5 years ago about them that sold the jerseys as it has not been resolved. |

What about having a 33% stake and sitting on the governing board of a Latvian bank found by a French court to have shafted the French taxpayer for a few hundred million Euro? It's a free country. They can associate him with Celtic because he has a clear association with them. For him to drag us back into it is not, for me, a good idea. They can show him outside the game but he doesn't need to validate it by responding in that way. |

Did he know he was playing golf that days and and on which course ? Could he just walk across the courses to speak to him ? He knew he would be a CP for the Bayern game, hence he was there as DD chose not to answer his questions he had sent before. The Half hour special showed plenty of other "Scottish" tax avoiders. DD controls Celtic - the biggest football club in Scotland and one of its biggest sporting institutions. He donates money to UK political parties. He is faitr game to journalists enquiries in Scotland. Edited by Corky Buczek, 7 Nov 2017, 11:00 PM.

His tee off times and the course he was playing were publicised three days in advance ...as they were for every participant . ...entry to the event was free I'm still struggling to understand the interest of BBC Scotland in the tax affairs of an Irish citizen Particularly when they seem to have absolutely no worries about actually employing Scottish folk who have benefitted from a tax scam For avoidance of any doubt my post should not be treated as "supportive" of DD |

The other day, in the "Media" thread, you told us that "Murray et al stole c£28 from every single person in Scotland when Rangers went bust." At what point was this theft perpetrated? When did that £28 ever belong to me and how can I get it back? Edited by paranoid_and_proud, 7 Nov 2017, 11:25 PM.
