Ok, been keeping stumph about the details of this, but there is a group who are actively progressing the legal petitioning of the courts for a Judicial review of the SFA and SPFL.

This group is not just Celtic fans.

Can't divulge the details yet, but work has been going on in the background for quite some time, and legal council has been lined up.

The window to pursue a petition is very limited, so my earlier thread was mainly to gauge appetite for helping to fund this, on this particular board.
The result has been really positive with 95% of people saying they would be willing to contribute.

It is absolutely essential in moving this crowd funding forward that we firstly have discussions with the petitioning group so we support them fully and dont interfere destructively in what they are doing. Secondly its not an exclusive Celtic fans only venture. It is very important that this crowdfunding is not seen as tribal Celtic fans, who have a personal rivalry grudge. It has to be all fans, from all Scottish clubs.

Once we get the nod, I'll release the details of where to contribute, and people can contribute what they want to. This will happen in next few days.

In the first instance, can you all raise awareness of the crowd-funding with other sites you frequent, the more we wrap in now, the quicker we can send a message tho the SFA and SPFL that we as supporters of Scottish football are not willing to accept the whitewash and continued malgovernance that they are hoping will be allowed to continue.

Stay tuned for further developments.

Think the fans will have to organise.

Ultimately there has to be a response here. If it's 'ach well, just carry on as before', the game's a bogey.

If Celtic (as opposed to a third party) were to go to judicial review, does that raise the bogeymen of being clobbered by FIFA / UEFA for involving the civil courts in pursuit of a footballing matter? I know it's something FIFA have a big downer on but don't know if it applies here.

Although I would certainly be up for this and willing to contribute towards it, I hope it doesn't come to this.

Celtic have to lead the charge here, if it seen as Celtic v the Sfa, so be it. We've kept the powder dry long enough, it's time to ignite the bastards.

For the purposes of judicial review, Scots law doesn't have the same distinction between public and private bodies as English law does.

There have been examples of the decisions of private sporting bodies in Scotland being judicially reviewed (including cricket and golf clubs).

Who would have standing to bring an action is another matter. As is the prospect of success.
Thanks for this, MM.

Perhaps Celtic shareholders?

Edit: Just seen Greenwhite67's post!

I keep coming back to these 2 points when I'm thinking about this
Even if we have grounds for this do we really expect any justice from a Scottish legal system that couldn't prosecute a guy who attacked our manager in full view of thousands of fans, possibly a few hundred police and hundreds of thousands watching on tv and have just this week taken the decision not to prosecute Ajax fans for their attacks on our fans?
Call me an old cynic but I'm not holding my breath

FFS, the Scottish justice system found their EBTs illegal, and Scottish judges on the Supreme Court confirmed so.

The court system demonstrably works fine, it's juries that are occasionally wired to the moon.

Pretty sure they found in the Huns favour the first 2 times it went to court and HMRC had to keep appealing

They were tribunals, not actual courts (if I recall correctly). The actual courts gave them short thrift, as HMRC expected they would.

Not sure which thread is the best for the cheating discussions?

Anyway: Grant Russell‏Verified account @STVGrant 6m6 minutes ago

Neil Doncaster today said he would open the doors to anyone who wants to debate today's decision. An opportunity for many.

There is surely no reason to disbelieve the QC's position on this which, to me, exposes the biggest disgrace in all this - not only did they conduct a whitewash but apparently they included a lock in mechanism which made any revisiting of it difficult or impossible. A shower of no good, cheating, corrupt bastards.
