Can see that FC Copenhagen are one of the latest clubs going into eSport with the idea of setting up 3 teams, one in CS, one i FIFA and one in Dota 2

They will be looking to put in over a million pound a year on the 3 teams (each of 3 players)

PSG, Barca etc already have pro eSport teams

Any rumours of Celtic putting up one? doesn't look like PL to miss out on a profit business - Games gets huge following, the 2015 record was at 36 million followers
I have not one clue what this even means. :ponder:

eSport = Electronic Sport

People playing FIFA (or other computer games) aginst others and people watch it mostly online but also irl

Huge ''sport'' that keeps on growing. Could be an official sport to the next Olympics

It's pretty serious, with professional teams and live events.

The company I work for E-SPORTS team recently won a major competition in the US and banked the company a cool half a million dollars prize money.

It's huge in the US and is now spreading to Europe. Madison Square Gardens sells out in minutes for gaming tournaments and a lot of the top teams have tens of millions of followers. There is a lot of money to be made and a fair few European Football teams are getting in on the act.

I do find it weird people religiously watching others around the world playing games online but it is huge now and getting bigger.

I can think of nothing I'd be LESS likely to watch. Utterly bonkers.

IMHO, of course.

 Same here but it's a growing "sport" and the money in it is bonkers. Teams, and individuals, get contracts from sponsors for hundreds of thousands a year

Online gaming with leagues all over the world. We got a training session on it a few months back and the money that is involved is jaw dropping and some play for at least 10 hours a day, if not more. Dedicated gaming channels, the works. Groupies and allsorts

Not my cup of Tea but it is taking off big time and some of the top Football teams are now getting in on the gig.

Aye, if anyone's wondering where Justin TV disappeared to, it's this stuff. Ridiculously high viewing figures.

I don't get the attraction myself, but it's an industry that has grown exponentially over the past five years.

Given the great minds that bring you Celtic's technology services, I imagine we'll be all over this in a world-class kinda way.

Despite being billed as a sport its just computer games. My daughter works at the Sheraton and they recently hosted some big computer games championships. Quite amazing the amount of money in it but its not a sport.
