Surely Celtic have to make their position clear at Wednesday's AGM? Exactly why was the UEFA licence granted in 2011: did the SFA interpret the rules as UEFA intended:do the rules need to clarified if SFA interpretation valid but not what UEFA intended? Has Regan been playing a game with Celtic and football supporters? Does he just not know the FAIR PLAY rules and their intent or did he but the rules were producing a result the SFA didn't like ? How about some answers? http://videocelts.com/2016/11/blogs/latest-news/stewart-regans-crucial-public-errors-over-resolution-12/ |

The Sports Integrity Initiative have republished their report. http://www.sportsintegrityinitiative.com/doubt-remains-rangers-uefa-licence/ It is less accusatory than the pulled version but nevertheless raises issues that should be dealt with to try and breathe some life into the idea that rules are for complying with not circumventing. it brings out that the SFA appear to be justifying granting the licence on two separate grounds, the first in 2011 that the liability was potential at 31st March, the second and it only surfaced this year,is that it wasn’t potential but HMRC had agreed to postpone collection until after Takeover. (For this to be valid such an agreement had to be in writing and predate 31st March 2011) One other little point of detail not covered is that the SFA should have been supplied with the tax demand letter of 20th May 2011 when it arrived and if they were AT ANY TIME IN 2011 then why did they not start asking questions then, based on its contents and why in March 2012 did they not provide it to the SPL lawyers? https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6uWzxhblAt9WUFuaG5JeFlmYXc/view?usp=sharing It was after all about ebts with side letters, the very thing the SPL were about to investigate. Its bad enough feeling that you have been cheated for over ten years watching football but for that enormity of that cheating to be covered up and nothing done about it, particularly by Celtic who have the facts, puts me right off football. |

Slightly less accusatory but quietly filleting them nonetheless. It's excellent that a disinterested (in Scottish terms) body is keeping this on the simmer.
If Uefa wanted, it could easily reopen this issue under that particular clause. It's corruption that we're trying to prove. They've already been found guilty of the DoS fiddle and the EBT fiddle guilty verdict is under appeal. Regan and Ogilvie can't duck and dive forever. |

That's a v.good summation of the events and circumstances that led to the huns getting 'handshaked' into the CL moneypot. Unfortunately, the way our board (probably) see it, is water under the bridge and why don't we just get on with humping them 'all over the shop' on our way to bagging ten-in-a-row, and breaking all sorts of attendance/income records, at the same time! One can have a wee bit sympathy with that view (if it is indeed, correct) however, the 'sporting integrity' angle is the distasteful elephant in the room... As far as the potential monies lost by us, because of hun participation in the CL at our expense, I think that somewhere along the line, someone from our board will have bent a Q.C's ear over the matter and concluded that it wasnae worth the pursuing

Completely agree here Auldheid. I've supported Celtic all my days - I've been involved in sport to some extent most of the years of my life, whether participating, or watching. When competing, I've fallen foul of rule breakages, had to take the penalty and move on. (FFS at an under 9s 5 aside my team was kicked out having got quite deep in the comp, due to me being a few days over age). Rules are there for a reason - and it's only fair that those rules are adhered to, and if broken a penalty should apply that's appropriate. What were' talking about here are a series of events that call into question the very fabric of this game we pay so much money to watch in Scotland. Our club which was founded from charity, only exists due to the game. To me, this issue calls into question the role of our club in the game. It clearly calls into question the role of the SFA, also Rangers, but also the other clubs. It makes me question the very point of our clubs, if they seem so disinterested in fair play. Without fair play, what is "the game"? What is the point of it? Something to do of a weekend? A distraction? What? Admittedly, Celtic's finances currently dwarf the rest of Scotland, and we have a squad that seems to reflect this, but it wasn't always so easy for us. And this differential between Celtic and the rest may make paying supporters of other clubs ask "what's the point" too? Fair dues. But that's another issue. We arguably shouldn't be in this league due to the differential between us and the rest. But while we are here, at least to me anyway, we should be striving for fairness on the field and off - and it seems other than the Res12ers, and the odd person here and there - but notably no-one with any media clout - no-one in our game HERE wants to look into this Res12 issue, or the sham that was the LNS commission, and expose the lot of it for what it is. How this is dealt with, truly, at least for me, has the potential to be a watershed period in time. It may be the point in time where I will think further down the road, "what a waste of time and money that was". The charity aspect to Celtic is something to be truly valued - but without the football side of it, it clearly isn't the same. Without the sporting fairness and everything else, it's just a vehicle to hoover cash off people, and really that's just about it. |

It's an excellent post from BRTH - on CQN. BROGAN ROGAN TREVINO AND HOGAN on 15TH NOVEMBER 2016 10:35 AM Folks, Let’s get something completely straight. The big issue with Res 12 and its current position is that any examination of the position as set out by UEFA is at odds with the explanations provided to Peter Lawwell by Stuart Regan of the SFA. If you persist in asking questions, with each question having a slight difference of emphasis, tackling the issue in different ways, you will get either one consistent and clearly truthful set of answers or you will get obfuscation, contradiction, and clear inconsistencies in the replies. That is where we are now. I had a long chat with the Company Secretary last night and pointed out that what UEFA say and what the SFA say cannot be reconciled in certain respects and so there is a need for clarification in my opinion and in the opinion of others. For example: Stuart Regan said that once a licence hs been granted, all monitoring and reporting duties are the responsibility of UEFA. UEFA stated that during the course of the year concerned, the SFA were monitoring for that year and the next at one and the same time. They also said that during the year, the SFA decided Rangers FC no longer met the licence criteria and reported accordingly — though they don’t say when or why the SFA reached this conclusion. These two positions cannot be reconciled as on the one hand Regan says post-grant he has no locus yet the man from UEFA said something very different. This is further confused by the corporate compliance officer who says that any duty to report owed by the SFA comes to an end at the end of that particular season. So Regan says there are no monitoring or reporting duties post-grant yet his own compliance officer says those same duties (which don’t exist) come to an end at the end of the season while the man from UEFA says that the reporting and monitoring duties for two consecutive seasons were being conducted simultaneously! Confused? Yea me too! However, only one of these versions of events was given to Pater Lawwell and it was the Pontius Pilate one which was bereft of all the details eventually provided by UEFA as a result of the Res 12 enquiry. There are also at least two materially different versions of events as to why the grant of a licence was made in the first place and those two reasons don’t jive either. The first was that there was no actual HMRC debt at the material time as there was only a “potential” debt, and the second was that there was an accepted debt but that HMRC agreed to postpone collection of the debt. Have you ever heard of a “potential” debt being postponed? No me neither. Either there was a debt or there wasn’t … which? By the way, it is very clear that the debt was agreed long before March 30th 2011 so the potential debt argument doesn’t wash and there is no evidence of an agreed postponement. In any event, the High Court will determine what is to happen to Craig Whyte about his failure to pay this alleged, potential, postponed debt by 6th May 2011 which is when he agreed it would be paid. 6th May 2011? Fully three weeks before the SFA intimated they had granted any licence to RFC to UEFA declaring that either there was a potential debt or a postponed debt. Oh and the debt was still not paid by 30th June when the debt was still allegedly potential or postponed. Go figure. |
