A UEFA spokesperson told STV: "As a consequence of decisions taken against Rangers FC in 2012 as well as the administration of the club and the events and measures that followed (including the club being ineligible to apply for a licence to participate in UEFA competitions for three seasons), there is no need for UEFA to investigate this matter any further since the club was not granted a licence to participate in the 2012/13 UEFA club competitions, the club entered the fourth tier of Scottish football and it was not able to play in UEFA competitions for the next three years in any event."

STV asked the governing body for further clarification on whether an investigation took place, and on whether they were satisfied the correct procedure was followed. UEFA replied that they had no further comment to make.

Basically what UEFA are saying is that they won't investigate the fact they might have erroneously got a licence in 2011/12 to go on benefit from potentially millions of pounds in prize money, because they went into liquidation ahead of the 2012/13 season and suffered an "expulsion" for three seasons.

 :ffs:

I mean, where do you even start with that?! :ponder:

It's eff all to do with Sevco it's about SFA Governance.

I'd be astounded if that was the official explanation.

My money is on them issuing a statement saying that they've done all they can, and we need to move on.

if Celtic feel that strongly about it then surely they can take it to CAS if Uefa are allegedly not interested?

"....the club entered the fourth tier of Scottish football..." Least they're getting that right maybe the SMSM should take note and stick the relegation pish where the sun don't shine.

Entered the fourth tier after relegation, will be the claim.
I've saw someone on twitter already claiming that what Uefa said to STV confirms it's the same club.

It suggests an incredible precedent is being set by UEFA. Like they really have no use for good governance procedures from their national association affiliates, even if it leads to the liquidation of a member club that participated in one of their competitions close on 50 separate occasions. :cuckoo:

What is clear in all of this is that without good governance at the club, the SFA and ultimately UEFA, the club was liquidated.

UEFA now seems not to see that as a factor, and are not willing to use it as a deterrent to other clubs doing likewise. Wow.

The statement is worthy of Sandy Bryson. Essentially, because of something that happened in June 2012, they've no need to fully investigate alleged impropriety that may have happened a full year earlier in June 2011. :cuckoo:
