13 years ago today Henrik scored against Boa Vista and we got to a European Final.

How the feck did we get from there to where we are now? #downsized and no ambition = Celtic Board.
Nah mate, I have no time for Lawwell etal but that was acheived with players earning wages that were competitive with the Premiership and the rest of Europe. We were paying Henrik Larsson similar to what he would have earned at Arsenal and Liverpool. Similar with Sutton and others. We can't compete any more in that arena. We would not have had any of those players in 2003 because all of them would have went where the much higher money was. Larsson would be on 100 grand a week plus these days. Maybe 150 grand.
Not as simple as that either Murph - Other side of the coin is keeping some quality in the team more times than not we would be pocketing £20m + a season minimum in the CL and have won the league each season at a canter.

Darroch replacing Lawwell?
So we already have our new FD from Deloitte and possibly a lawyer of a CEO. I guess it's different from the usual jobs for the boys mantra our board have. Fresh ideas should be welcomed.

As I said I have no time for Lawwell and Co but in my view it's simply not true to say that the difference between Celtic 2003 and the Celtic of today is the board's downsizing. The major difference is the rise in wages and transfer fees - Crystal Palace paid the same transfer fee and wage for James McArthur as we paid for Chris Sutton. That's not to say the board haven't been too cautious and wasteful - they have - but the major difference between 2003 and today is market forces.

Unfortunately this is true. As I understand it the bottom club in the EPL will be bringing in about £80 million more fv money than us next year. And given that tv money nearly all converts to disposable income that is a massive gap. No ceo of celtic will bridge that gap.

Irrespective of who they appoint, there has to be changes in the boardroom.

Yet again the directors have sat on their hands when it was glaringly obvious at the end of last year Ronnie was struggling.

In 2008/9 we did the exact same when th strikers couldn't buy a goal and we didn't strengthen.

Until the likes of Lawwell, Allison, and Bankier go with Dermot reappraising how involved he wants to be at Parkhead, I remain unconvinced about the long term future.

Don't know enough about Bankier to pass comment but Allison and PL are both Celtic fans.
However they are both getting on, as we all are and the time has come for new ideas.
Long term we have to be able to live within our means, anything else is just inviting trouble.
However the last three years have been poor and more than the hapless Ronny should carry the can.
We really need DD and O'Brien to decide to spend either more time on the club or invest more more over the short term to allow others to get on and do the necessary things!

1. Appoint an experienced manager, coaching team and back room staff.
2. Clear out the dead wood among the playing staff and not allow some to hang about like a bad smell.
3. Recruit some new players, RB, CH, LB(probably), 2 DM, CF

Al that will take money and lots of hard word on and off the park!

I heard today that one of the Desmond's were building a big mansion somewhere just outside Glasgow.

Can't remember where, but the lassie was sure it was one of the family, and not Lawwell, or any other board member. Anyone heard anything?

I've asked for more info :arrr:
Cambuslang? :suspect:
The big monstrosity on East Kilbride Road that looks like a five year old tried to draw The White House? Is that not William Haughey?

If true, sounds like Desmond has awoken from his slumber.

Lawwell (sic) and Desmond's legacy: empty jerseys, empty hearts, empty dreams, empty stands

From boardroom to dressing room you've embarrassed yourselves. The Celtic jersey has shrunk to fit inferior players.

I think most fans realise this.Nobody is asking us to compete with EPL teams but we expect to beable to beatMalmo and Maribor as well as playing a bit better football in Scotland.
