Queen of the south have never had audited accounts

I'm sure all those tinpot Eastern European teams don't either

As for FFP, that's to keep the princes in check, not the paupers
The original intention of FFP isn't relevant here. The actual rules aren't based on specific figures, or tailored to mega-rich clubs--they're based on percentages. If a club's turnover is X, and its annual losses are higher than Y, UEFA will knock them back. (Y is some percentage of X--I'll dig out the specifics when I get a chance.)

Sevco might just be a wee business in the grand scheme of things, but any club making those kind of unsustainable losses will be declared ineligible for UEFA competitions.
I've no doubt that everything you say is 100% correct.
Having said that there will be a loophole and the SFA will find it.
They will play in Europe next season.

The SFA have nothing to do with it. If domestic governing bodies could intervene you wouldn't have as many teams banned from Europe as has happened since the implementation of FFP.

Inter Baku, Braga, Targu-Mures, Astra, Botosani and Dnipro have all been banned from Europe recently for breaching the rule on overdue payables.

Dynamo Moscow, Besiktas and Galatasaray were banned for breaking the rules on losses.

As things stand Sevco would currently breach both of the above rules. Literally the only way they'd negotiate the losses rule is if an owner injected enough equity to cover the past 3 years losses. I would welcome that just for the amusement factor of the zombies suddenly turning on Dave King for his inability to pay up.

They have absolutely zero chance of playing in Europe next season.

Hilarity will ensue when the Scottish media figure all of this out & have to break it gently to the (former) People.

And just wait til they find out that all their frenzied speculation about new Premiership-standard signings was just a lot of tummy-rubbish, because Mr. King has misplaced his wallet!

what is the mood in Glasgow. Will Ronniy's departure be enough. I am curiouse about the rumours that desmonds son is taking over. I'm hoping that the gombeen man will not want his son to fail so will throw money at the club. Well, I can but dream. I for one will not be happy until Lawwell goes. Compare him to the DUndee Utd front man who gave back his salary. That is what being a supporter is.
I guess we'll see at the game on Sunday, hopefully its made clear to Lawwell that he needs to go also.
Park too please.

Scene : Dermott Desmonds luxury penthouse apartment overlooking the Thames. Dusk.
Two men , Dermott and Peter sit shrouded in darkness towards the back of the room.
Door opens .
Man enters , David Moyes .

DD : "ah come in Davie , take a seat. Well , you've had a few days to think things over , whats the verdict"
DM : "well i'm almost convinced but theres one question , whats the budget for bringing players in this summer ? "
DD : " we're thinking 20 , 21 million "
DM : " hmm , not great for this day and age but i could work with it. 3 players at about 7 million each , good start to rebuilding"
PL : " That figure includes wages over 4 years"
DM : " i'll try not to let my arse hit the door on the way out"

Your logic seems very sound but I'll trust my experience.

We'll find out soon enough either way.

Given the fact that the RD thread is still top of the page three days after we were officially told he won't be our manager in a few weeks but the thread about the muppets that appointed him has slipped halfway down the page is a worrying snapshot of the general consensus of our supporters feelings. The incompetents that appointed RD need to be held accountable by the fans for their decision making.

Heard this so many times about so many things when the a-Bomb hit Rangers. Since then we've seen that the authorities in Scotland are prepared to tie themselves in knots to make sure there's a team calling itself Rangers playing in blue out of Ibrox.
We'll see what UEFA do, but we know what line the SFA will be pushing, and I don't have a lot of faith in UEFA to contradict them and apply the rules.
On the other hand, seeing The Rangers being told they can't play in Europe if they are the same club as Rangers would be hilarious.

The thing is we can sit back and watch the show. The team that finishes fourth in the premier league / or Hibs if they lose the final, are the ones who have to complain, as one of them, not sure how it would work re which one qualifies, should be playing in Europe and not sevco.

If sevco don't meet the criteria due to financial fair play, audited accounts etc, then its in black and white and any decent lawyer representing either of the injured parties should be able to argue a very strong case.

Maybe I was being too cynical. Seems like the authorities are getting strict about this after all. :o

I was at CP yesterday on business, and whilst waiting in the reception the board meeting concluded and the board members all came out at the same time. Some right out the building into waiting cars and some up the stairs. But what was glaring was that they all looked completely miserable, expecially lawwell. So much so, the woman I was with (who isnt in any way bothered about football - let alone celtic) asked what was up with them all they all looked pissed off!
