 It's not like he had to get the club's permission to call himself Lord Livingston of Parkhead. His family has links to the area, which is probably why he picked it.
I'm not saying he required the club's permission. But I'm pretty sure such a successful and celebrated gentleman like himself knew exactly what he has doing. And the club used it as a PR opportunity, probably underlining how far a disconnect there is from the boardroom to a significant proportion of the fans.

If he has links to the Parkhead area and cares about it maybe he shouldn't be a Tory pumpkin?
I don't think the club used it as a PR opportunity at all. They issued a very low key press announcement after he was appointed and that was it.

It wasn't as if the marketing team was taking out adverts to get you to buy a season ticket saying "SUPPORT YOUR TORY LORD".

Hearing Lawwell has been offered the Sunderland CEO job, not heard if he is going to accept it though however I imagine he will.
I posted on here a good while back that he did not give a flying fig about Celtic. He probably did at one time but that was a long time ago.

Absolute rubbish!

You may passionately disagree with some / most / all of his stewardship of The Club (entirely your prerogative) but he passionately loves Celtic as much as anyone on this board ....
So he's just doing a shampooe job then. Shame he can't be fired on put on a performance related pay scale.

Radio scotland saying we've spent somewhere north of 35m since 2011 on 51 (fifty one  ) players. That's fees. Not wages or signing on fees.
A proper scouting system spending that kind of money on about 1/3 of that number added to a manager who knows how to set up a team would have taken us to the CL every year. Never mind a shrinking market, it's completely sustainable, or it was. It's a long way back from the shambles we've become.

What a effing waste.

Grow up, that club disappeared about 1898
Tell that to Tony Hamilton
Tony should know by know that after the club became a Private Limited Company, the amount donated to charitable causes fell was to virtually nothing!
Only since Fergus and the move to become a PLC has that been dramatically reversed. Hat off to Tony for the magnificent work on all of that
However we need to face facts and acknowledge the truth, anything else and we start going down the road of the Huns and zombies

DD exited after Huns went 2-1 up

PL departed before the penalty shootout and was given escort out - wise in the circumstances

Been told by someone who was near to both - no reason to disbelieve him

As I said if I was PL I would have left before end as it would not have been comfortable for him at all out there

As for DD he probably had a tee time at loch lomond

No idea about the golfer but the PL statement is correct.

Jamie Church and co would need more than their ex cop experience to have dealt with what would have greeted PL if he had been seen outside Hampden post that debacle.

How undignified, to leave before the end
Obviously they don't believe in the old maxim about a Captain going down with his ship!
DD probably didn't want to give Kingy the chance to put the bite on him for a few bob
PL - just a cowardly bandit- it it's true!
They would have been nowhere near the support after the game if they didn't want to be!

How much did we bring in during that period? Not saying we havent pissed away a load of money. Just think it shows a bit of balance having both figures.

Full two page article by John McGarry in today's Daily Mail (i know i didn't buy it) Puts the boards current policy under the microscope ! exposes it for what it is ! very uncomfortable embarrassing read for Lawwell and co ..
John McGarry is Celtic daft.
thought he was hurting .
Seems to be a lot more tims in the media nowadays compared to when I was growing up. I remember John McPhail being the token tim at the record back in the sixties, and that was about it.

Around 40m they said, which seems a bit light to me. Wanyama, Forster, VVD, KI, Hooper would be more than that.

Correct. Individuals can have strong charitable motives, irrespective of their politics. I don't remember too many people questioning Fergus's politics. He just did what needed to be done to save the club.
