Given that we have rumours of Lawwell leaving in the summer, what sort of notice period does he have to give? Presumably that notice has to be made public under stock market rules and it would surely be at least three months that he'd have to give, so unless the plan is for him to hand his notice in then go on gardening leave once he's appointed a new manager it should probably have been announced by now.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
The basic story is that the SFA conspired with the old Huns to allow them to play in Europe in the Chris Whyte year. They were able to keep the wee tax bill off the books until just after they had been certified as meeting the criteria for playing in Europe (which coincidentally includes a rule that you can't owe Hector any money). There was much merriment, hearty laughing and backslapping among the bigwigs of both organisations at how clever they had been in circumventing the rules.

Some enterprising Timmy sleuths / internet bampots (delete as appropriate) dug deep into the certification process and found, much to our dismay, that RFC (soon to be in Liquidation) were correctly certified at the end of March. However, that was just the first stage. It turns out that it is effectively a two stage process. It gets done at the and of March and then again at the end of June. This was not immediately obvious because there are different Articles in the rules referring to each stage/date/certification.

The reason this is so important is that the wee tax bill had crystalized by this date and Rangers should not have been allowed to compete in Europe.

When the Celtic shareholders questioned why Ranngers were not de-certified in June, the SFA replied that they would only deal with the Club. When the Club asked, the SFA relied that Rangers were correctly certified at the end of March, completely ignoring the question about June.

As of now, the Timmy sleuths and Celtic appear to agree that we need to escalate it to UEFA, though that conclusion could be controversial. Celtic want the shareholders to contact UEFA while the shareholders think that the Club need to do it to be taken seriously ( and because the SFA replied only to the Club). The more cynical among the support think that the Board are trying to stall as there may (or may not) be a time limit on if UEFA can look at it and this may (or may not) be approaching.

It turns out that there is no need to take it to UEFA in any case. Stewart Regan, when questioned about what he would do if Rangers were incorrectly granted a European license, stated that he would leave every stone unturned and do absolutely nothing.
So there you have it . It's all about money. Roll on the old firm , there's ST s to be sold .
Viva la modern day football :boik:

Lawwell's notice period is 12 months I believe.

Edit. I have just checked the annual report and it is indeed 12 months which can be given by either him or the club.

FFS. Guess it'll be another £1m for him to tend his begonias then if he is going this summer :brickwall:

Would guess that Sunderland would just pay compensation to us if they wanted PL and he wanted to go to them

DD would most likely jump at the chance and set in a new management/sporting team that he wanted (Keane/MON) and bring in someone like John Delaney as replacement for PL

See what you mean, he's the guy that took the FIFA cash instead of pursuing the Thierry Henry handball that dumped them out or the world cup.

Pragmatist , or a PL lookalike perhaps. No thanks, not for this lhad.

He made a big show of telling Blatter the truth at a dinner, then all that came out.
