In terms of a medium to long term football strategy we appear totally rudderless. There's not even a sense of being a work in progress.

What are the performance indicators by which his bonus is measured?

It can't be the performance on the park. We have failed to qualify for the CL in the last two years and have failed miserably in the EL this year.

It can't be the satisfaction of the customers. Fans are leaving in their droves.

It can't be based on finance. Turnover is down (see 1&2 above).

So what justifies the "bonus" element of his pay. If anyone on the Board would care to explain? Anyone?? Thought not :nono:
:louder: Kingbhoyd you're on.

Football wise we have been rudderless for years, the football side as they call it has been neglected almost to death .
Peter Lawwell has the say and he took an enormous gamble bringing in Ronnie , it has backfired because we have failed to qualify for the champions league on two occasions 3 if you count Legia and our performances in Europe have been a bloody embarrassment , this has cost the club or as they call it ,the business approaching £30 million in lost revenue ,never mind the damage caused to our reputation and future seeding .plus the football we are watching is so so boring its actually driving punters away .For this Lawwell is paid a cool 20 grand a week .

The team is rank rotten , no spine ,no strength , no guile and worst of all no bottle . Lawwell and the rest of the imposters in the board get an easy ride while Ronnie who is out his depth and should never ever been considered for the job takes the pressure .

Depressingly true. PL is improvising, and the results aren't pretty.

SPLOB remuneration:

Salary; £564,128
Bonus; £417,787
Benefits; £17,349
:ffs:
Appears such a cynical amount.

As if it's intended to just not break £1m and no more.
Maybe.

But, d'you really think the shamefaced bastards would care, one way or another?

That's harsh. Clearly our strategy is fuelled by insane amounts of imagination, ie the promotion of some sevco-type team. And there's fights to pick with our own fans- always a great way to spend time.

That is true however can't help thinking he would have had a better plan to take full advantage of the absence of any huns and I am sure the sign any effer transfer policy would not have been tolerated for so long. I imagine the people who keep bringing £2 million duds would have been held to account long before now.

There are objectives set out in the accounts. I'm pretty sure I posted them a few months back in this thread, most of them are ridiculously easy to meet, although there are a couple that are clearly not met.

Whether you think he has what it takes or not, it makes the Tony Watt decision seem pretty strange. He may well have been a rocket behind the scenes, but the manager was given zero time to turn him round. If he had, the Watt had a long career ahead of him and a potentially decent fee.

This isn't to over Watt's merits, other than to say that the succession of chancers and reprobates we have signed up front since then suggest that talent isn't always at the forefront of our thinking. Why would we sign a known bam such as Ciftci for good money, soon to be suspended for biting someone, when a year earlier Watt wasn't given the opportunity? Why would we sign Kazim-Richards when the main reason for Stokes' departure would appear to be his off-field attitude?

It's only a matter of good fortune that we have one goalscorer at the club, because if Hibs had come up with the goods then Griffiths would have been along at Easter Road banging in goals while we relied on Commons chipping in.

Cole and Kazim-Richards have been given permanent deals, meaning there is no sell on value and little chance that one, never mind two, will get a regular game for us.

For every half decent signing, there have been two atrocious one. The list of possible midfielders on our books is ridiculous when he have only one recognised striker, and we still have at least one total bombscare at the back, even when Efe is out.

I'm sure it's not easy to run a football club, but it won't be much easier to make a million anywhere than it is at our club.

Fergus didn't like spending money but he understood it is was necessary. He understood that the very point of Celtic - any football club - was to try to be as successful as possible at playing football. He understood that on-field success would attract more spectators and more prestigious sponsorship deals, which in turn would increase profits, for the benefit of the team and the shareholders. He also took no shi t from the huns in the media or the SFA.

This current mob see 'football operation' as a means of financing PLC objectives and their lavish salaries, bonuses and perks. Balance Sheet before team sheet. And they are spineless cowards who sh at out of seizing the opportunity to force root and branch reform of Scottish football. They have betrayed the legacy of Celtic.

Whilst the 90s was utterly rank rotten, there was always a sense of aspiration that we wanted to improve - however little.

Now though, the board seem to be actively killing those aspirations and instead would prefer we slide into the abyss of mediocrity.

Right now we have almost no hope of achieving anything of great note - CL qualification.

What an absolute shambles.

PS - i'm clinging on to the hope that PL and co. are saving up the cash for a spending spree come the summer to ward off any kind of competition from a newly promoted and Glasgow based rival.

I was more referring to the legacy of the club's achievements on the field and how that demands it's officials to strive to put the best possible team together they can.
