The board have now issued a counter statement about their "surprise and disappointment" at Celtic Trust statement -that about sums them up, totally out of touch with fans !
Seriously? Cant find it on the club site.

Or have I been whooshed?

FFS :ffs:

Beyond a joke.

Maybe if the board had decided to discuss the alleged racism in private, rather than in front of the press, I could see their point.

Its not rocket science , we accept we wont challenge Barcelona or be strutting our stuff in the Epl anytime soon. We accept the cyclical nature of our European adventures . We know that the SPL is too easy and will remain so until some sort of real opposition either develops or comes along But even though or situation seems stagnant at the moment this is when real business people take the floor . Unfortunately we have a board of accountants and they are a prime example of why very few business do anything special when accountants are in charge. We need someone thinking a wee bit more lateral . Our "more than just a club" and "the family" shtick could be our best marketing tool of all time, but this is where accountants will fall flat on their arses, as it requires doing things that have no discernible effect on the clubs bottom line .
A good example is the accolades we receive from teams on a "European" night . The last few years they must have been turning up and thinking "What the feck". We ALL know we would be playing in a mausoleum at times , but what did our esteemed board do , feck all ! They would rather guarantee an income , than roll the dice slightly and increase / fill Paradise .
We see manager creating the them and us thing when things get tough , that is what our fan base require. We need to be charitable, we need to be socially aware, we need the "Celtic way". Any knob can negotiate a contract as long as they are aware of restrictions and limits, but it takes a real "business brain" to create or enhance a business.
First thing on the agenda , define "profit" ! Its not always about ££££££.

It seems we cannot have a debate regarding whether the position the club is in is acceptable.

I think we've been debating it over 250 pages on this thread. Might be wrong though.

Totally agree, well said. We are not alone, every week that goes by the more support gets upset and angry at the way we are being run. I have had it and I no so many the same. We are risk averse, we dont expect miracles. If i could i would ask what would have happened to my club if we hadn't sold Wanyama, Foster, Hopper, Ki and Virgil?

He only needs to appear in public for around an hour every year in an official capacity and that he knew the issue was going to be raised and this was the best he could do?

I think you are probably right but I wanted to see if this is all about a general moan or is there an actual appetite to change the direction of this club. If we are all just moaning then fine.

I think there's a huge appetite to change the direction of the club. It has been discussed at length both in this thread and in the Ronnie Deila thread.

"Ian made his position absolutely clear on Friday when he thanked, praised and commended Celtic supporters and shareholders and clarified that he had not branded our supporters as some had suggested," they said in a statement.
"Ian was simply referring to those individuals that the Trust in their statement have also condemned, so we seem to be in agreement.
"We are surprised and disappointed that a public statement has been made without any dialogue on the matter with the club, but as always we will be happy to meet any of our fans groups to discuss."

probably penned by that nutcase bryan wilson, another arsehole who should be no where near celtic park
100% agree. Wilson is someone who should have been held to closer scrutiny than he was before he was re-elected. Whenever I have heard him his views are further to the right than Livinston any day of the week. Whilst I totally disagree with the way Livingston voted on the tax credit cuts I believe he would have been aware of the reaction it would cause and he is at least honest and has some integrity. More than can be said for the other charlatan he is the one who should be chased. I think Baron Livingston of Parkhead (the title will be like having an old girlfriend's tattoo on your arm) will go quietly early in the new year and claim pressure of work with the Government (good riddance!) and Bankier will be gone before the next AGM. Who knows maybe DD will be there next time to sort us out.

I find the board handling of the whole situation incredible.

1. The club of the people founded on principles of helping the poor have a board member who voted for a ferocious bill that punished the poor. A bill from a party that have made things better recently for better off people.

2. The board take notice of some unsavoury messages from social media that could have been from trolls and if genuine and truly racist they should have referred to police. There was no need to raise this at the AGM as a distraction from the fact that we have a board member who is far removed from the principles that the club was founded on.

3. Given the volume of social media from real genuine fans regarding other matters it is surprising that our board chose not to spend more time highlighting this.

It is very, very disappointing that the board have taken this stance and feel the need to continually justify their act of gross stupidity.
