Crap like this doesn't even enrage me the way it used to. This Celtic board have sucked the life out the club to the point there is absolutely nothing indistinguishable between us and any other club on the planet. 'A Club Like No Other'? I'd love to see what they believe sets us apart, as a club, from anyone else.
I can handle the fact that as I've got older, and football has got more and more corrupt, catered to a different audience and filled with players making a disgusting amount of money, my love and enjoyment has waned considerably. When Celtic just become a diet version of this I find it hard to get angry the way I used to.
We are a club going absolutely nowhere
Putting aside Bankier's comments and Livingstone for a moment, I really have no idea what you're hoping for exactly.
What makes Celtic stand out? Well for a start we're one of the biggest football clubs on the earth. We are basically turning a profit most years, with zero bank debt in the monetary wilderness that is Scottish football.
How exactly are Celtic a diet version of corruption and greed?
We're a club going nowhere? Where is it you think we should be going based on the limitations of our environment?
I agree with this view for the most part, although I do feel that for nearly a million a year given the size of the company PL should basically be pulling rabbits out a effing hat which he isn't, for the most part what we do at board level atm is competent nothing more and sometimes a little less than. This lot at this stage have basically hitched their wagon to Ronny they've said we can't buy success, true, so we must develop and he's the man to do it if things don't improve in Europe or he fails to deliver more than the league at home then it's going to very hard to defend that as being the best way for the club. Ideally we'd be seeing more imaginative strategies in place to grow the club, I'm not immediately clear what those might be but I'm not being paid to think about it.
Our board do more than a competent job. This is the problem. Everyone get's so enraged by the bad decisions (Bankier's outburst yesterday being a prime example) that they immediately start downplaying and dismissing any good ones.

I agree that they have for the most part, I think recently there's a few things we're they've been pretty lax and I'd like to know a little more about what the plan is going forward outside of ronny will develop all these players. It's true though that there's a lot of reactionary pish leveled at the board, evidenced by folk taking aim at PL when we were losing at half time Malmo whilst never acknowledging him when we beat barca or almost bagged a treble.
While Aston Villa and Everton's wage bills may have trebled, this doesn't really explain why Celtic now routinely struggle to compete with teams like Legia Warsaw, Malmo, Maribor and got our arse handed to us twice by a Molde team with a 40 year old in the middle of the park.
The furore over Bankier's deflection comments seem to have allowed them to avoid discussion about the underperformance on the field. I'm not kidded on by them. They are an utter disgrace.
Abso-effing-loutely.
We cannot expect to compete with EPL clubs but we are a relatively wealthy club in European terms that pay better than most. We are underachieving massively because of the strategy adopted by these fuds.

I'd say PL taking £1M a year is the very definition of greed... or stupidity. I really fail to see how anyone can see, outwith the excellent work of various fan based charities, that we stand out more than any other club. The ethos of the club has been completely ripped apart. Of course, the club do make donations to various charities, as most clubs do, but we don't even pay the living wage FFS. The fact that we operate in the 'monetary wilderness' of Scottish football is damning on both the SFA/SPFL and the club. What is it you feel Celtic do as a club, which sets us apart from any other club? What's our identity?
Where is it you think we should be going based on the limitations of our environment? I'd like us to be taking advantage of the Champions route to the Champions League far more than we are. The fact we aren't is completely down to mismanagement from a few individuals at the club, and I fail to see what's being done to ensure there's a brighter future. We're going round in circles.
situation for what it's worth, from what I've gathered / been told.
the very last share issue ( which came to fruition a few seasons back) paid out extra divi's on the back of succesfull CL campaigns. Is it any coincidence that the prioritisation of CL qualification / last sixteen seems to have been placed firmly into the slowlane, if not yet parked onto the hard shoulder, itself?
dividend preference, I think the issued shares were called.
B.Quinn engineered that share issue for DD and his pals, and at it's amortisation period, every participating shareholder was ensured that, if there was a shortfall from the buy-in price (which there was) extra, ordinary shares would be issued to the participants to make up the cash difference. This occured, and everybody was still in pocket (with the share price-paid) and well up, on the divis from succesful CL group stage participation, plus two last-sixteens:)
and therein ended our major shareholders interest.
no divi's at stake for him and his cronies (E.Jordan and the like), no more MON inspired pipe-dreams of entry to the EPL, and Desmond now prides himself on telling all his rollin'rich buddies on the golf course how he owns the only major football club on the planet that lives within it's means, like all his other business interests, and sometimes even makes a profit. Like the cat-who-got-the-cream, he emphasises that his club, unlike any other, doesn't hemorrhage cash.
and herein lies our problem, as DD gives not one flying-moustache twizler about Celtic, as long as it isn't costing him any of his more-than-plentiful wedge. he's still clinging to his idiotic notion of escape from the playing environment d'Ecosse, cause that's the only way that he's gonna be publicly seen to make his prerequisite, which is of course, a whacking great profit at everybody elses expense.
and as long as he still foresees the faintest possibility of SPLexit, and we as a club continue to chunter along turning over the odd coin or two, then the only way he (and all of the proxies he brought on board for dividend preference) is gonna sell up and walk away, is if he can be seen to have made a good profit on his football club:(

It's a shame you had to overstretch and go for the four LOL's in a row. Three probably would have won the argument.
Anyway, I think the problem here is that when I say Celtic are one of the biggest clubs in the world you hear, 'Celtic are as big as Real Madrid'. Which is not what I said.
We're a massive club with a huge stadium and fanbase. Not many other clubs in the world (and there are LOADS of other clubs in the world) can match us for most things.
The crux of your argument seems to be, 'one of our staff gets paid too much and we should probably be qualifying for the Champions League more than we do, therefore the entire club is greedy, corrupt and going nowhere'.
A slight overreaction perhaps?
For the record I want Livingstone out, I have no love of Bankier after yesterday, and like you agree that the CEO is paid too much and we've failed in Europe more than we should have. That doesn't mean the PLC is a train wreck.
What makes Celtic special? Well, as a lifelong Celtic fan I could write a book on that. I can list some of my reasons for you if you want, but do you really need me to?
If you can't think of any reasons to support Celtic personally anymore then maybe you shouldn't.

Environmental limitations mean we should be going into the Champions League groups nearly every year. Our boards lack of ambition means we have failed to get there, not just in the last two seasons but also when we allowed a huns team on their deathbed to win 3 consecutive titles. Their repeated gross mismanagement has cost us many millions of pounds in recent years & has done incredible damage to our club & our reputation in Europe. Damage that leaves us a long way short of where we should be & with an almost impossible road back. The team we have at present is rubbish & that is a fact ,not an opinion,as results & performances in europe, against moderate opposition ,clearly prove. Perhaps we should just accept all this & even accept the fact that we can't appoint a proper manager nowadays.

I disagree with a fair bit of that, but I can't really be arsed getting into it.
My opinion remains, I don't think the club are currently doing much which actually sets us apart from other clubs, certainly nothing to suggest we are 'a club like no other' and I don't think there's any genuine evidence to suggest we are 'one of the biggest clubs in the world'. I actually find that pretty laughable.
There's a million things which makes Celtic special, but unfortunately very few of them actually take place inside Celtic Park these days.

You, sur, are the definition of an apologist.
Apologist is at least civil. Some repugnant no mark took liberties with my moniker and called me a pussy yesterday.

Well said
Exactly where we are
One small change - get pl to put his 500k bonus into the academy and hire some quality coaches - could overhaul quality there with pl still taking 500k a year
Not exactly speculating to accumulate more like investing in the club rather than pl
