The trust tweeted that they've been told a statement is to be released re: Bankier shortly.

floof.
Unless it's his resignation for being an idiot it is too little too late. Any criticism of Livingston now will be coloured by accusations of "criminal racism". Club have what they want. Media have what they want. Fans? Well, the fans will have to just shut up and sit down.
Yip.

Celtic's Chairman's statement

By: Newsroom Staff on 20 Nov, 2015 17:20

CELTIC Chairman Ian Bankier has thanked shareholders for their attendance and contribution at today’s Annual General Meeting, and following media coverage of the event, he has also clarified remarks which he made during the AGM.

“I would like to thank all our shareholders and supporters who attended today’s AGM. As ever, we enjoyed a healthy exchange of views and yet again it was fantastic to see the passion for all that is going on around our great Club.

“Already there has been some media coverage of my comments relating to Ian Livingston and his proposed re-appointment and much of it has been wildly exaggerated and taken totally out of context.

“I have not branded our supporters racist and it is outrageous to suggest that I would ever do that. I was only referring to a small number of specific comments which have been made on social media, which I believe are unacceptable, and I know Celtic supporters would agree with me.

“Celtic supporters are the lifeblood of the Club and I am delighted to say the best in football, with the best of values.

“I thank everyone again for attending today’s AGM to express their views.”

That's that then. :ffs:

Completely forgot the AGM was today and logged on here to check up on the team for this weekends match.

Instead I can't believe what I am reading, being disgusted would be an understatement!

How in gods name can these people come out with such nonsense. The board is an absolute disgrace.
You just know the statement will be mealymouthed pish too.

Not to worry - there'll be the guts of 50k there tomorrow giving it 'here we go...'
I think most of us could put forward a pretty compelling argument that our club and supporters are some of the most diverse and and tolerant in the world of football.

No matter what statement comes out or who puts their name behind it I believe that this will be the end for certain members of the board. It has to be, it just has to.

What they´ll lose on supporters with Bankier´s comment could have paid for the upgrade in Living Wage - I hope they are well pleased with their "Cleverness" ! :arrr:
So clever he will have to step down, there is no other option.

Maybe it's a squirrel he wanted but he's actually produced a half crazed rodent with a crack pipe brandishing a grenade launcher.
He won't be going anywhere
They don't listen to fans. Simple as that
The only way they'll listen to us is if we hit them in the pocket, it's all they care about, and I'm afraid I don't see it happening
I'd love nothing more than us being able to force these ***** to listen and act but I can't see fans organising the way we did before
People will rage online as its easy to do, actually doing something to make them listen is another thing altogether

"referring to a small number of specific comments"

doesn't match up with what he was saying earlier when he said a 'torrent of abuse'.

Ah, the old 'taken out of context' excuse. Bankier would have got more sympathy if he'd released a statement admitting he'd been an idiot and that his remarks were ignorant and unfounded.

They've used this fecking non event over the livingston thing to distract from any genuine criticism of the footballing side of the operation, and rather deftly too it would seem.

Sadly you are probably right. We laughed heartily at David Somers performance at the zombie AGM, today we saw Bankier surpass that, Somers at least made a few decent points though it wasn't what the Orc wanted to hear.

That Statement is so weak and snivelling right enough, it won't strengthen his position from earlier today and he will be seriously compromised should he hang on.

Surely nobody can be surprised? The board to a man are effwits. And yet some people will swallow the bullshampoo they spout. They have turned the club into a rudderless ship going nowhere.

You're giving them too much credit if you think it was a deliberate tactic to deflect from more important issues. It was just another gaffe from a board which looks increasingly incompetent and detached from reality.

Were you hoping somebody was going to ask about the merits of zonal marking or why we don't at two strikers?

"I talked a lot of pish at the AGM earlier on, but I think I got away with it.

I would like to reassure you gullible effing mugs our shareholders and supporters that I am as interested in taking your money as ever.

God bless Margaret Thatcher"

I didn't even know what Bankier looked like until today, which tells you what sort of impact he's made during his time at the club.
