Quoting limited to 3 levels deeptorrent of base personal abuse in social media
I also think any sort of racist abuse, never mind a TORRENT of abuse would have been picked up by the press before today.
This was from the last Aberdeen game on Halloween.

Not racist, but some fans' feelings may match this.
We're definitely only a "welcome to all" club if people deem your politics to be "correct".

For what it's worth, I don't care what the boards' backgrounds are if they are guiding the club properly.
At this moment, we are standing still, and the next few years will dictate how effective the current lot are. The signs aren't good.

This AGM nonsense is same old, same old. Whatever happens won't affect me. There have been worse times to be a fan.

I said the exact same when it was first brought up a while ago that Livingstone was on our board, that as long as he does what is right for the club then his personal political views shouldn't really come into it.

That changed with his stance on the tax credits, he voted in the full knowledge that these cuts would affect a number of the support, for that reason the (non racist) abuse he has recieved should be expected and calls for him not to be on our board are justifiable.

The tax credit cuts are in direct conflict with the very founding principles of the club. He cannot be allowed to stay. I can accept imperfect people with differing opinions and politics running our club, but this decision he made to vote for the cuts is basically declaring war on everything that makes Celtic what they are.

Get him out.

Stupid own goal by the board here. More importantly, a horrible and manipulative way to get what they want. These guys couldn't care less about racism. They just showed it by casually throwing about statements like that to deflect from what are genuine concerns from fans about the living wage. Nasty bastards.

Don't get bogged down in Bankier's retaliatory language. He was clearly rattled which is no bad thing. Forget the words and concentrate on getting Livingston out.

"welcome to all" has always been a stupid and completely pointless sound bite.

its not true and never is no matter the context used
With regards to politics and religion I am with AP on this one, it doesn't matter to me as long as they are looking after Celtic properly, and they are really struggling on that front.

I had a bigger problem what with the betrayal and continued effects of John Reid and Co. than anything a Tory such as Livingston will likely ever manage, they are what they are.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
there's plenty to get tore into Lawwell and the Board for, but that ain't it. There are probably hundreds , if not thousands, of posts on here saying that one decision cost us the Treble.
I know, I've probably said it myself. But there's a difference between the fans saying it and the chief executive of the club. Considering we've lost to lower league teams at least six times in cup competitions in the past 20 years, to just assume we'd have won the cup if a referee had awarded us a penalty in the first half of the semi final is the sort of arrogance I'd associate with those in charge of the huns.
Celtic were shocking in that second half that day, never showed up and if the reason for that is a petted lip at not getting a pen then it's even more of a slap in the face. ICT were better in every department in that 2nd half and matched us in ET, yet at HT I could only see one winner in that match.

Is it outwith the question to suggest he could have been verbally abused at some point?
The actual quote from Bankier...

Quote:

"This personal campaign against Lord Livingston is criminally racist. He has been subjected to a torrent of base personal abuse in social media. Some of the messages are criminally abusive.

There's your lie. Right there.

I think if there had been a torrent of racist abuse across social media we might have noticed it and indeed, retrospectively, we could find it easily with a Google search. Just did not happen.

Poor from Bankier.
if it was criminally racist you'd expect to see criminal procedings started and culprits named and shamed.

dirty lying scumbags have absolutely no respect for the fans and this slur just shows the contempt they hold us in.
Really? Who are we - Blackpool? :cuckoo:

I'd wager that for the vast majority of Celtic fans...

Being anti-semitic = bad.

Being anti-zionist & pro-Palestinian = perfectly reasonable, and indeed anti-racist.

Livingstone may indeed be a strong zionist, but it is his Tory lordship & disgraceful support of the cuts that is the issue here.

That despite the views of supporters and any alleged abuse of board members or other members of staff, Celtic wouldn't "name and shame" anyone - or indeed begin criminal proceedings. I cited Blackpool as an example as that is what their owners done, a move which received widespread ridicule. I thought my point was obvious.

Add me to the list of people who didn't know Ian Livingstone was Jewish. And yes, that's a very dangerous claim for the club to be making. I would be surprised if it's true, and if it isn't the fact that Bankier is saying it tells you an awful lot about the people who run our club.

It is ridiculous, shameless and unforgivable. Spineless weasels to a man. They can eff right off.

I too didn't realise Livingstone was Jewish. Not that it has anything to do with the main fact; that he is an utter carrot.

Tomorrow will be interesting.

One of the shadiest things I've ever read about the club
Eh? The club was not even involved in this meeting.
