Our chairman met with the British Prime Minister in the two weeks leading up to last year's Independence Referendum.

I didn't get a vote in in it but I did/do follow it. I'm uncomfortable with it.
You do realise this was most likely in his capacity as chairman of Glenkeir whiskey shops and nothing to do with celtic ?

I was aware of his other business interests - I'm skeptical that was the reason they met and it was unlikely the meeting was in the context of his Celtic role but as ill smith pointed out, there were suggestions at the time that certain Celtic staff were advised not to vote. By who? There are more high profile Scottish businesses than his. The presence of high ranking conservative lords in our midst just gives me the jeebies.

P.S. Someone has dropped an e in your whisky.

Apologies for going over what is probably old ground but I'm hoping for some advice re Friday's AGM. My brother-in-law is unable to attend & has offered to let me go as his proxy. I have the paperwork but don't really follow what's involved. Do we have to return the signed form showing me as his proxy or can I just bring it with me on the day? Alternatively, if I just turn up with his voting card will any ID checks be carried out?
Bumping this for the day shift.

Advised not to vote isn't true. It was advised not to make your vote public knowledge - completely different.

But considering the team, management etc were playing away on the day of the referendum, how many of them actually registered for a postal vote?

None. Peter Lawwell had their wives and kids locked in the board room at gun point until the polling stations were closed.

Usually just show the paperwork and iirc they mark you off as having attended - No ID checks - You will get in no bother.

Nice to see we do something right...

http://fcliege.be/fr/celtic-glasgow-la-grande-classe/

At a time when the world of football, not to mention the world tout court, often resembles a jungle where the end justifies the means, we would like to publicly acknowledge the exemplary behavior of this venerable Scottish club.

The story is simple but worth telling.

Last summer, Logan Bailly was transferred from OHL at Celtic. Since only supporters of Football Club Liégeois remember it, he had once spent part of his training in our ranks. Under FIFA rules, so we brought a "solidarity allowance", symbolic of a few hundred euros.

Before we even contacted Celtic, it was manifested to us in order to know how he could pay us. And our bill was then honored within 72 hours ...

In response to our thanks, Mr Gordon Allan, Business Accountant Celtic, told us (free translation):

"Our policy is to make solidarity payments proactively, rather than waiting for the clubs contact us. It's nice to hear that it was appreciated. Good luck for your season "

High class !

Clearly an attempt by Lawwell to wind up the huns, by proactively paying off footballing debts :arrr:

Can't Scottish football just move on from this petty point-scoring exercise?

I'm sure it was a reported on the BBC who reported this at the time, before taking the tweet down. Still though thats pretty discracful, in the week they met the PM, they all come out against Scottish Independence in the rags.

28-Aug Rona Fairhead, BBC Trust General Discussion
28-Aug Castle Precision Engineers, Star Equestrian, Jack Perry, MacTaggart, Scott & Co, Maxxium UK, Ian Bankier, Malcolm Group Roundtable with Scottish business owners

28-Aug CBI, CBI Scotland, Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks, Weir Group PLC, Standard Life, M Computer Technologies, ScottishPower, GPW General Discussion

This shampoo will be bookmarked for Indy2, along with plenty of other stuff collated after the referendum.

Will there even be any questioning of Lawwell's failure or the ambition of Desmond at the AGM?

Doubt it, a lawwell gag or two about a dead club, his 'at least we are no deid' patter and 'we are building' nonsense.

It would be nice if DD (if he's there) tells us his shares are up for sale to a real (by real i mean someone who gaf) hands on celtic fan, you can blame PL and RD if you like for all the downsizing to our club but the ship always sails by the captains orders, I for one would like DD gone, his voyage is over.
