What changes if Lawwell goes?

I'd imagine Desmond would just want to replace him with someone similar.

Depressing times right now.
DD says we're better than last season and I'm sure he'll turn up at the AGM on the 20th Nov to tell us why and how he's looking forward to the return of Deidco next season. :nono:

When was the last time he bothered to turn up?

Im sure he wasnt there last year.

D.D.
His ego is bigger than his wallet.
Always wondered how he's been the sole survivor of the great Irish economy collapse.

If a "billionaire" needs to take a divi from the club.alarm bells not ringing yet??

What's the percentage of shares that Desmond owns? What are they worth roughly?

I don't know who would buy him out, if anyone. Given that the EPL ship has sailed, if someone matched his valuation I think he'd probably sell.

Are they really banking on folk sanpping up ST if sevco get promoted? Dangerous game that.

I gave up my ST 2 years ago, the way the club is run I'm not going to be renewing anytime soon, doesn't matter if the bastard reincarnation huns came up, as I am so apathetic at the moment towards Celtic and I imagine quite a lot of fans are the same.
I seriously regret buying a season ticket this year and the thought of a couple of games next season against sevco isn't going to persuade me to shell out £600.

About 40%.

I'm sure he had to get special dispensation at the last share issue to go over 30%.

More than I thought, I can't see what would attract anyone to buy him out and if it would actually change anything. I'm talking about an individual buying him out of course, because at the minute it's unlikely the Celtic trust or any other supporters group is going to be in a strong enough position to buy him out.

I returned this year after a long absence, was hoping to see the team kick on this season under Ronny.

Yeah that's worked out well, can't see me renewing it.

You'd be looking at someone who doesn't have the wealth take on Man City et al but who could still fund a tilt at getting through the CL group stages.

The problem is that they'd be sinking money into something that won't give them much return, if any. Celtic isn't a good invstment.

It's a good investment if you can get out of Scotland but you need to invest in trying to get out

This signing of Carlton Cole is a clear example of lawwell failure. Proof that we identified the need for another striker, proof that lawwell failed to get him in time for vital CL qualifiers.

Yet we are so used to is and accepting shampoo like this from PL its seen as a good move now despite him not being available for whats left of Europe. It probably is but the signing of a striker should have been in the summer. Though a lot more is needed for improvement in Europe.

The other night was a disgrace and should be a moment when DD realizes things are out of hand. Doubt it though, he doesnt give a eff.

The team is a shambles.

Players who are sold on the club by PL telling them 'Come to us we will put you in shop window for move to EPL' straight from the start we are suggesting players can be bigger than the club. Its no wonder players attitudes stink and motivation is questionable most of the time. If we were to find another Henrik Larsson we would buy him with the promise 'if you make it we will move you on to something bigger.' before puntng his at first opportunity.

We have a manager thats came from what was a minor league at the time, now we make Norwegian & Scandinavian football look good and better than it is. A yes man with gimmicks who will do what PL tells him in all aspects and read his scripts to the media and fans.

All stuff thats been talked about here before and we go round in circles.

Shocker of a result/Transfer window failure/missed CL deadlines/bonus for failure.
Lawwell GTF
'But is Desmond who appointed him and PL basically doing whats asked financially'
Desmond needs to go.
:( Sigh.
Quiet until another of the things at the start of the circle happens, theres usually not long to wait.

Until we get a good organized way to get rid of DD this will continue in downward spiral with the mothballing of the football ambition while DD awaits his fantasy move to the EPL and selling his shares.

Until then Id gladly take the removal of lawwell and someone else coming in who might have ambitions for the football team while working under DDs financial target of just ticking over.

Please just get Lawwell, his failures, lies and spin to eff and get some fresh ideas into the club.

People at the AGM really need to ask under what circumstances pedro doesn't get a bonus.

By any measure at all be it business or football the club is doing poorly and deteriorating so how the eff is a bonus getting paid?

Assuming this is any more than the board sticking out stories to try and make themselves look good, then I don't get it. I certainly don't see the value in an NASL franchise.

On the face of things I'm all for some kind of Asian football operation as a means of bringing in players but there are real questions about who this would benefit-

(1) We don't have anything like the money to build a club and compete in Asia let alone a point where we could gather a large enough fanbase to make it worthwhile. Certainly tapping off money for the Glasgow team (if that is even possible) would not go down well.

(2) The stunted imagination that the board have demonstrated in planning and fundraising for this club would make them a laughing stock in most Asian countries and a lack of ambition or direction would never be tolerated. Most of the clubs in China and Japan have long term planning in place, often called '100 yr plans' which are admittedly ambitious but it's the mindset that counts. In fact, if you are a non-league club in Japan you have to sign up to the J.league 100 year plan if you plan on becoming professional. the criteria of the plan includes the stipulation that your stocks are majority Japanese owned and you must have run a Youth football school for a period of a year.

(3) They could grow the brand much more cheaply by buying the youngest top-scorer in Japan (Usami) and actually playing him. The interest that the Japanese public have for their own players playing abroad is incredible and it's an almost sure fire way of expanding the TV audience. Couple that with some high profile friendlies and offering the soon to retire Nakamura an honorary position at the club might open us up to much more lucrative sponsorship opportunities (in the same way Bayern use Beckenbauer or used Uli Hoeness).

Looks like a Chris McLaughlin non story but if we were interested in growing they could try and 'grow the brand' by raising the profile back to being able to compete in the Champions League or Europa League. Crazy idea I know but might just work.
