Only if he cheers the eff up.
How Paul Lambert inspires anyone to do anything is beyond me.
His time at Villa was far from inspiring but he did a decent job at Norwich.

Ain't no way on God's green earth would Lambert come back to CFC - especially on the wages we are prepared to pay
However he would be a far better bet than RD just because he has had far more experience in a far harder league set than RD has

Exactly. We spend money but not wisely enough.
Aberdeen have spent about sixty grand on transfer fees the last three seasons and had a team out yesterday that more than matched us in every department.

That's sheer incompetence from board to dugout.
Aberdeen have spent much more than that.

are they not spending an absolute fortune in wages compared to the rest of the league also?

It may take time but as the crowds really dwindle they will realize the error of their cheapness.
Lawwell will be able to observe Celtic's huge, onerous rebuilding effort from his seat in the Villa/Southampton/Wherever directors' box.

He'll be our £15m transfer piggy bank after next season's failure?

If Lawwell is as good as he thinks he is we should try and punt him to EPL teams, get one of his favoured agents onto it and get him touted around.

Id give him a koakie back to where ever would have him.

It'll be a free transfer, mutual agreement. Just to think, footballers who leave clubs under similar circumstances often get the big testimonial game they've spent half a lifetime looking forward to. In a funny way, the Sharp Suited Man™ has had a testimonial every year since he arrived at Celtic Park.

As far as Lawwell's legacy goes, maybe it'll be part of some future MBA course: if you keep taking the low-risk option year after year after year, you can get to a point where that option has become the biggest risk of all.

(Then again, the whole concept of "risk" is relative if--as the great Ray Donovan likes to say--"you're playing with house money.")

Their strategy is there for all to see. Teams in Scotland arent getting better by that much. We're getting worse year on year yet I paid an extra 50 quid this season for a season book. Mug.

there is plenty wrong with the boards buy cheap/ sell on high policy which has obviously been ongoing but what should also be highlighted is that there has been some significant sums released, and unfortunately for us, especially latterly in the Lennon reign and now with Deila there has been some amount of shampooe bought which is magnifying the faults in our own sell on policy . Almost every player bought has been worse than the player they are meant to be replacing and although this might be understandable in some cases i.e VVD/Wanyama replacements it should not be happening as consistently as it is..our scouting HAS to be better than it is at the moment

The squad we finished with in 2012 had potential and not only that, it earned enough money to maintain, if not improve it.
We had the option of a wider range of player, we could still have shopped for the £1m/2m players like Vic or Hooper but we also now had the option of paying a bit more if the right player became available.
Playing in Europe made us a much more attractive proposition for players as well.

From then on the situation has been so badly mismanaged that we can't even get through the qualifiers and are looking vulnerable domestically.
Its a shocking state of affairs.

I fired this email off to JPT on Saturday morning. Didn't quite articulate myself as well I would have liked nor mentioned everything I wanted to, but I was in a hurry and really wanted it gone before the Aberdeen game, so as not to be dismissed as a knee-jer reaction. To his great credit, JPT sent a diplomatic reply today (which shall remain private)

Hi JP

Apologies for dropping this on you, it's intended for our CEO but I don't have his email address. Maybe you would forward it on?

I've been preparing to write something like this for weeks. As usual I approached this transfer window with hope more than expectation. We all knew VVD & Denayer would be leaving; our left back problem goes back to Izzy's leg break at Aberdeen years ago and we still haven't adequately replaced Gary Hooper up front. There's 4 players needed just to stand still, far less progress, yet once again we were sold short; the policy of not replacing departing players before they leave coming back, again, to cost us the glory of CL football.

Note I don't refer to the £m's failing to qualify has cost us. While I'm a share holder I've long since ceased deriving any pleasure from our team generating great amounts of prize money, for I know it will be used to benefit business operations and not football operations, 'Balance Sheet Before Team Sheet'. I've long since stopped giving a damn because Celtic means more to me than simply a means of generating money, than simply a business, and it's becoming more apparent with every passing season that ideal is at odds with the people in the Boardroom. Their lack of ambition is as small minded and parochial as that of the predecessors from the White & Kelly days, yet while the latter were bumbling amatuers, this lot are cynical professionals who now how to milk the Celtic support while systematically downsizing our ambitions and expectations. 'A Club Like No Other' - are they actually trying to rile us with that ridiculous statement? This bogus version of Celtic they have created cannot attract supporters to fill those seats the banner tries to disguise because - economic factors notwithstanding - fans are sick fed up of seeing cheap, substandard players replacing what quality we had and we're sick fed up of seeing those players and managers repeatedly failing to overcome teams with a fraction of our resources in Europe. We are sick fed up of seeing this failed business model costing us on the park while execs hoover up handsome salaries and ridiculous bonuses. Our CEO earns more than out football manager, that is scandalous. It is said his bonus package is paid on the performance of the club as a business and not for achievements on the field, is this true? Does it Peter really gain financially from selling our best players and replacing them with cheaper players, without any proviso of qualifying for the Champions League? No wonder he doesn't buy the players we need during qualifiers, he's going to get his bonus regardless. Meanwhile, we are a pale imitation of the team that so memorably beat Barcelona a few short years back.

I have so much more to say - the cowardice in failing to sieze the opportunity to lead root and branch reform of the SFA after the Rangers self destruction, and to fight for the titles were cheated out of during the EBT years; failing to address the worsening disrespect of the mainstream media towards the club and more - but I wanted this sent before the Aberdeen game, so it's known this is not a knee jerk reaction to a possible defeat. I shall not be buying any tickets for the Europa League, nor the League Cup or Scottish Cup: I paid for my season ticket, but not a penny more. I'm sickened by this Board and their utter dereliction of it's duty to support the Celtic Football Club in it's pursuit of sporting achievement, to try to be the best we can be.

Decent letter Aldo. I guess it will achieve the same as every other complaint however. They simply don't agree with this point of view, and they think they are right and we are wrong. I have had this view confirmed by an insider . Worth trying though.

Sad state of affairs FB. The club is no more than a business whose financial objectives outweigh any notion of ambition, history or development.

The malaise amongst a lot of supporters is growing IMO........
The ones who refuse to criticise the board remind me of certain other fans who pretended all was rosey in the garden until it was too late...

I am not comparing the two clubs situations before anyone thinks I am, our issue is much harder to remedy I think.....

He said he would, on the basis that I actually asked a question about Ped's renumeration package (which was just me sounding off, I really didn't expect that to be taken seriously). JP's one of the good guys, he must feel at times he has the most thankless job in the world.
