The team at the end of last season was worse than the team at the end of the previous season.

The team at the start of this season will be worse than the start of last season.

And that's it, descending ever further into a cave of medicority
We're well past mediocre. Legia are mediocre.

My my this thread has jumped.

Sometimes it takes a humping for people to open their eyes.

Lawwell should be emptied. Downsized everywhere (including the manager), and we saw the evidence in full view tonight.

It can't be true that Deila is on less wages than Tony Watt was can it?

isn't that the shizzle.......we could get Fergie as manager or Mourihno, but without the boards backing what would they be able to do? Tonight's result is the result of the board pulling the purse strings too tightly for too long, yes we may never go bankrupt through big spending but we will go bankrupt when fans stop turning up for games

I seem to recall going on a bit of a rant after the Karagandy first leg about how the manager had been hung out to dry and a miracle second leg turnaround would only mean the board had got lucky rather than a vindication of their strategy. We're pretty much there again.

It's meant to go 'buy low, sell high, renew the squad and repeat' not 'buy low, sell high, stop spending money altogether'. The 'renew and repeat' bit is key.

Everything fits. Our best players have been sold, Lennon left, Keane said no thanks. It all comes from above. PL & co have serious questions to answer.

Mr Lawwell, Mr Bankier, you reap what you sow. The downsizing comes home to roost.

I smell Khmer Rouge tactics from the board, think they are happy to sell VVD & FF, and that was always their intention. They then hope we can get by this year domestically relying on kids, and gradually rely on home grown, after all the others are allowed to run down contracts/seek transfers.
Peter Lawwell's Year Zero it would appear, with Ronnie taking the blame if it is a disaster. I dont think the matter should be let lie even if we win 6-0 next week.
It's a feckin football team, that is supposed to produce heroes( not stock market approval) and glory, not profit. We need to get back to that.

It can't be.

The players wouldn't listen to a word he says.

Ehmmm...

I don't believe the board will for one minute open the purse strings and support Delia in clearing out the dross and bringing in his own players. They wouldn't back Lennon, so why back Delia who was brought in to work within a tight budget and develop players.

I don't have a problem with the philosophy of developing players, christ, we can't afford to buy proven players in the current crazy market. My issue is that we sell our good players and not have a ready made replacement within the ranks. If VVD goes, we should already have a defender there to step up, we don't. We didn't have it with Wanyama or Hooper. We sold them and then bought their replacement in. That is not how to do it.

This board want Champions League football on an Intertoto Cup budget. They've been lucky that we've made the group stages these last 2 years but they should have saw that we scraped by Karagandy last season then got pumped all ways in the groups. That should have alerted them to the deficiencies in our squad. We need investment. The manager need the funds to buy a decent striker and a partner for VVD.

When was the last time a new manager was appointed and not given money to improve or change his team? They aren't even hiding the fear of spending now.
No wonder long time season ticket holders aren't renewing. Reduced quality year after year, but the bonus must be good Peter.

We just got pumped 4-1 by a team who scraped a 1-1 draw with St Pats. This is the only fact that the board should be looking at. As Remy said, Lawell should be utterly carpeted for this. A massive public down sizing at every level of the club and this is where he has got us.
We will only spend money if we get to the CL!! It should be the other way round FFS. These games are the most important of the year. Our financial progress depend on them. We should be investing to ensure that we get through not investing IF we get through.

That radovic would do a job for us.
Ok he's not going to score a bucket load in the CL but he looks better that anything we have and would get 25 + domestically.

But he's not 20, won't have a sell on fee and we might only get 3 years out of him.

So fecking what, the projects need some experience around them.
What would he cost? 1.5m and 10 grand a week.

Pah.
