Biggest decision a board ever takes is appointing a manager
Our last two have been the cheap inexperienced varieties
Lenny found his feet eventually and did ok
Ronnie is still learning
Neither should have been pointed

The board need to look at the quality on the pitch and our CL failures and change their approach.

I've pretty much had it with the situation.

The players on the pitch simply aren't good enough. It's difficult to say whether that's the fault of Lawwell for not providing the funds, the scouting system for being seemingly unable to identify players or the manager for thinking the players we have are capable of more than they are. The truth is probably combination of all three but the strategy of our club is entirely wrong.

We talk about sustainability and making progress yet our entire transfer policy is built around waiting until the last week in August, establishing our budget based on a two-leg play-off and if the results go our way spunking it in 4-5 days.

It doesn't help that when we have qualified we've wasted so much of the cash on absolute dross that rarely improve the team. Most of our more expensive signings in the last 3-4 years have never even established themselves as first team players.

The only thing that doesn't seem to be downsized is Lawwell's £20k a week wage, making him probably the 2nd highest paid man at the club after Brown. That's a ridiculous salary to run a 'business' the size of ours.
time for co-ordinated fan action - tonight was an embarrassment but not unexpected. cut off the money supply and there will be a reaction. Whole board must accept blame for where we are and how far we have fallen :arrr:

We are weaker than last season, even worse when VVD pisses off before the weekend. Who exactly thought Boyata would be capable at this level? If its Park, he can GTF, if its the manager, well he's as culpable. Johansen has been woeful and the Dundee Utd experiment is beginning to unravel.

A long long road to build a decent team. PL should resign, he's made far too many stupid mistakes.

The only saving grace for Lawwell is the second leg was away so he doesn't have to worry about people gathering after the match.

The board seems to have forgotten that every big sale we have made in the last couple of years have come from players that have been bought for a fair amount of money, not someone picked up on the cheap in the SPL

I'm all for getting a Scottish base in our team, but money should be invested in bringing in players that can make a difference in Europe (and then sold on with a nice profit)

We can't built on SPL players and expect to do well in Europe

Where do we go from here? The malaise has set right in and we have a board who seemingly couldn' t give a flying eff.

Is it time the supporters association, and/or another fans body demand a meeting with the club to let them know enough is enough? We are losing fans year in year out and something needs to change. Fans need a reason to hand over their hard earned now. I said it in the match thread but with the huns being back in all likelihood next year that might absorb the fed up ones.

I couldn't care less what people say but there's no reason on this earth we cant go out and buy 3 or 4 better players that would help give us a better chance of qualifying for the CL. Not one effing reason.

plan b will be the return of the hun support next year and the emergence of new rangers. that should add 7,000 season tickets and despite failure in europe again a few victories over the hun will cover up the cracks. And Peter will still get his bonus from the gombeen man.

Another year and not much changes. I like Ronny but he has to take part of the blame for this. However, how Lawwell escapes this is beyond me. He has failed the team but still gets a huge bonus. It's crazy. He has far too Much say in who we sign.

I decided to get a season ticket this year depsite being skint as I get married next year. I did this as I generally enjoy watching Celtic but feel a bit annoyed that what I spend isn't properly spent on the team. i don't include me in this but it is the ones who buy the ST and merchandise constantly that are getting the piss taken out of them.

Just get to eff Lawwell.

I like a kick at the board as much as the next man but i dont really think they get a kicking for tonight.

How much money do they need to provide to the manager to not be outclassed by a team with a fraction of our budget? How many resources do they need to provide before the team can do the basics and defend a corner kick or a throw in? How many resources are required to stop Berget looking like a world beater?

Sadly the buck stops with the manager and the players tonight.

Nothing's going to change at board level so why even talk about it. Lawwell is Desmond's man and that's it. Desmond has no interest in pumping money into the club. It will be the same shampooe different day for the foreseeable future.

Bullet proof Pete. I said 10 years ago this joker had been installed as a de facto Director of Football and was ridiculed. A monumental ego, a monumental salary and a momumental eff up from beginning to end.

Who appointed the manager and paid buttons for the substandard players?

We sold the man who got us to the champions league on more than one occasion. The same man who didn't want to leave. Samaras would have got us through. Why sell a guy who was desperate to stay? Lawwell really wanted rid of him.

We started the game with six Scotland internationals on the pitch, most of whom wouldn't be considered indispensable by Scotland. And Scotland are pish.

There's one problem. Another problem is that we haven't got a striker with presence.

Another is our defence couldn't keep weans away from the Christmas tree.

The midfield was bossed in large parts of the game last Wednesday and it was a no-show tonight.

The board consistently gamble with the club's progress by taking unjustifiable gambles (selling your best players and buying 6 average/potential/punts with the money can't be described as anything else).

The manager doesn't know how to close out a game from a winning position. Even when we were totally dominant in the first half we failed to read the danger signs and conceded early in the second half.

We can't defend set pieces which is a fundamental and means that we're going nowhere against a reasonable quality opposition.

We're complacent from the suits at the top to the sauntering central defenders and none of them react well when under pressure. The team is mentally weak, while the board will wash their hands, blame the manager, get a rookie, give him nothing, the pay themselves a bonus, and make a wee parochial power play at the expense of our erstwhile rivals.

This quote from Dan Petescu speaks volumes for me.

“Celtic contacted me, they wanted me. I spoke to their previous manager, they have problems.”

I think it all but confirms that he is not doing what is best for the club, like some like to believe.

The policy of selling our best players and replacing them with inferior players won't stop and I'm not even confident we'll get 10 in a row with this policy.

What day?

Lawwell decided, like he decided with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink 10 years ago, that he wasn't worth the money. Remember, this is an employee who has been personally rewarded for his dealings in the transfer market.
