I didn't go to a single game this season and went to only one game the season before. I'd normally get to about 10/15 games a season, work permitting but due to the downsizing at the club I gave up.

For the first time in quite some time I'm considering a season book for next season due to Ronnie and what he wants for the club but will be holding out to see what happens on the signing front this summer.

Is anyone in the same boat?

wow. Now that we're nearly good again, I'll be going back, but only if we buy some top quality players.

I guess this is representative of the missing thousands. Only thing he doesn't say is that he misses Sevco.
I gave up my season ticket because I thought the board extracted the urine.

The near miss with Karagandy and the failure to learn the lessons scunnered me. As did PL's bonus and the failure to pay the living wage. We then had the claim about how much not having Sevco in the same division was costing us despite PL's various statements to the contrary over the previous few years.

Yes I am pleased that Ronnie has overcome a shaky start and is winning the place over - he has my utmost respect as to how he conducts himself and what he wants from the club. The board do deserve credit for appointing him.

But here's the nub - For the umpteenth time in the past decade or so we are two or three players short of what could be a very good team (left back and centre forward are the stand out areas for improvement). Will we address them or will we standstill as so often happens ? (and no this is not a call for reckless spending)
Radical board change necesary, resulting in timely annual recruitment and turnover of competent staff and players. Adequate PR. SFA opposition. The incumbent mealy mouthed/silent puppet boardroom buffoons are a greater hindrance to Celtic than any external force.

don't think that's fair to say, the board need to spend a decent amount of money on the team- they're taking the piss out of the fans that are faithful no matter what.
It's doing us no good sitting in a bank account and under investment last year probably cost us a shampoo tonne of money by missing out on the champions league

Me too. Although to be fair, he wasn't their first choice - they offered the job to Roy Keane.

Harsh comments FB, harsh.

What a part-time fan I am because I felt the board were taking the piss and not backing the manager, downsizing season after season, and I decided I had better things to spend my hard earned cash on. Obviously I'm not the only one who felt the same or the top tier would be open on match day a lot more.

Good for you Jamie. One game in two seasons? Fan? Certainly the timing is coincidental, but I'm sure that's all it is.

I decided that I was not going to renew because of Sunday games and the the pisstake Friday night games.
But I renewed same as every year since they brought out the terracing season books because it's better to be at Celtic park
Than listening to radio or watching in the pub , or even worse shopping with my wife.
SEason ticket every season for as long as I can afford it

Sunday games are rubbish.

Hopefully we qualify for the Champions League this year and we'll have less Sunday games. I could really go more Friday night games at Paradise as well.

I thought the plan was always to get Ronny in, even as an assistant? But after the interview they considered him for the manager role?

Isn't that why Mjallby left?

this added to RDs comments that virgil is going nowhere until the CL qualifiers are done, I'd have to assume yes

Out of interest what is the cash gain for making last 16? how close is it to the cash we'd get for virgil?

I would hope that the Board are being proactive in managing the squad - long, medium & short term, I really feel that Ronny is hugely into this having listened to his interviews.
I therefore expect us to be actively trying to extend the contracts of important players like: Johansen, Biton & dare I say it Virgil.

If Virgil doesn't sign a new contract & his current one has 2 years left, is it possible we would keep him for this season to help get us into the CL, which might earn the Club close to double his potential transfer fee?
Is it then possible, we go again next season? As in - "are you signing a new contract? If not, then we keep you to have a run at the CL".

Ronny has been quoted as having this approach to transfers e.g. the transfer fee is not the be all & end all, especially if we can make more money & also forward the club's stature & benefit the entire squad/club by getting us (regularly) into the CL.

I guess the Board & the Manager both have the same thoughts on things, the more I think of it I'm guessing we'll keep Virgil this season & that he might  even sign an extension - especially after seeing our intent in bringing in Boyata alongside him (if he's any good) & even more so if we get some other quality players, to potentially give us a good shout in Europe & a treble + putting Virgil on our top earner's pay scale (as he's deserved it).

Anyway, the Board are looking like they're backing the Manager & I trust Ronny to be looking at the development of his squad - he's got my vote of confidence anyway.

Keeping Van Dijk would be absolutely huge. Get a real striker in and left back cover for Izzy, and I think we'd be set.
