So we've downgraded on our management, our playing squad, however our CEO wage hasn't been downgraded. Made 9 million (give or take, deducted the Serbs fee) from transfers. Raked in a wedge for the commenwealth games plus guaranteed EL money. Yet we have come out of this transfer window a whole lot worse off than we went in to it with our squad etc. I would say that is a dereliction of duty on the part of the board. With the policy they have followed they have cost us a guaranteed £20 million in money. Someone is not doing their job properly and should therefore be relieved of their duties. Our club is an absolute shambles at the moment. I hope the support show their ire and hit them were it matters in the pocket. |

This isn't an echo chamber - you can go quote these phantom people who disagreed with you and say 'I told you so' if you like. It might even make you look slightly less self-satisfied! Although who knows. |

You said it was "embarrassing" one week into the window. At that point, it wasn't embarrassing...because it was only one week into the window. You weren't proved right but feel free to take whatever validation from the internets as you wish. |

Yer talking crap mate. Window opened on 9th June. I did not make my first comment on the 16th of June - or anywhere near it. So you are happy with the window then? Fine. We'll have to disagree on that one. Lots of loan signings and one signed for cash on the last day of the window after a U turn on behalf of the player. What would constitute an embatassing window in your opinion? Edited by brianlara67, 4 Sep 2014, 12:26 PM.

You missed one plus point. We got rid of some diddies. Though we may be still contributing to their wages, it will be a bonus just not the see their names anywhere near a team sheet again (hopefully). |

Is Lennon still being paid by the club as a means of stopping him talking about why he left? And does that stop him getting another job for 12 months? |

I don't see how he could. He was on a rolling contract and he decided to end it. Officially, anyway. |

I think it's more a case of Lenny being too dignified and caring too much about Celtic that would stop him revealing stuff like that. |

Cheers. Was just wondering. I'm not disagreeing but he did reveal that Deila was considered as his assistant which wasn't helpful and he'd have known that when he said it. I think the year's rolling contract basically means he could be stopped from working elsewhere as long as the club continued to pay him. Obviously it would make no sense but neither does a lot of what they do. Perhaps they are hoping for compensation from an EPL club. |

Cant say im too unhappy with our signings this window. 1 (or maybe even 2) promising strikers, 3 new pacy attacking mids, cover at CH and a GK. The loan to buy arrangements i'm all for too, if they help us avoid being lumbered with another Pukki or Balde it's a smart move. Hell we even managed to shift some of the dross too. All in all, not a bad window, certainly better than some (Flood, Griffiths anyone ?) Where i am unhappy is when these deals were done. Not getting players in before the qualifiers was downright negligent from the board. The fact that they were just repeating the mistakes of the previous year makes it so much worse. I'm in the (tiny) minority that thinks we shouldn't sack Lawwell but i'd love to see us hire a Director of Football type who would handle transfer negotiations, with Park kicked back to scouting and Lawwell to dealing with the running of the club. |

£2.5m for Scepovic. £500k each in loan fees for Wakaso, Tonev, Berget & Denayer. The rest is wages. (actually I have no idea, but it doesn't sound completely implausible) |

You think Lawwell would take a drop in salary? And if not, you want us to spend more on admin staff than we already spend? The wages paid to Lawwell are a disgrace, he is significantly overpaid. He also has a role that carries no real responsibility in his pseudo-DoF position. That is unacceptable. He has overseen a disasterous start to the season, and continues to push down the overall wage player to player, year on year, and all at a time when the remuneration committee allows his wages to be at levels far and above what should be being paid to the CEO of a small company in Scotland. The incompetence levels shown by the BoD are significant. They appear to have learned nothing. Signings on deadline day instead of in the close season. We have been utter cack this season, we could easily have purchased the likes of May and Armstrong at the end of last season. At the time there would have been a "pfft" from most of the supporters, but, given the guff we have seen this season, we would have been in a better shape to play in Europe with those two playing than the likes of Pukki, Stokes, Berget and Johannsen. Lawwell likes his soundbites, and to tell all us numpties that the loss of Rangers has cost the club 10m per year. It hasnt Pete, its the dross you put on the pitch that has cost the club significant drops in its matchday revenues. You wont see 55K season ticketholders next season even if huns v2.0 is in the league, and thats again because of the dross youve put on the pitch. Moving from Hooper to Pukki, Ledley to Johanssen, Wanyama to Mulgrew etc etc are the most major issue, and bringing through virtually no homegrown talent, or even scouting scottish talent to be added to the first team squad. Signing players on the last day of the window achieves what exactly? Perhaps getting through a Europa League group? Or is it perhaps because our Norwegian Haddie might not have been able to win the league without the new recruits? If its the latter, then thats a poor reflection on all concerned. Our support appreciates that we cannot compete for players with english clubs, but what we cannot accept is that the money thats brought into the club isnt then spent wisely, and at the right time. And for the past two years at least, thats been the case. Lawwell's coat shouldnt even be on a shoogily peg, it should be beyond that. Edited by herbert viola, 4 Sep 2014, 02:23 PM.

I didn't say I was happy with it, mate. All I said was that the window wasn't an embarrassment at the point at which you said it was an embarrassment. People saying "let's give it a few weeks" a few weeks ago are not necessarily happy with the window now that those few weeks have passed and the window is closed. |

You do know i'm not Peter Lawwell right? As far as Lawwell's wages go, i couldn't give an eff. He's still in the job because Desmond and the rest of the board dont seem to reckon they can get someone better for cheaper, if they eventually find someone who can, great. As far as wanting the club to spend more on admin staff than we already do, absolutely yes i do. I want someone who can negotiate a transfer in a more timely manner (relieving Lawwell of his "pseudo-DoF role") and if that costs us an extra half mil a year then so be it. Getting some players in before the qualifiers this season could have made us far far more than that. |
