Niall McGinn back at Aberdeen
For a wee while there I thought Hibs were in with a shout, Lenny will be disappointed missing out on him.

Long picture, so in spoilers:
Spoiler: click to toggle

Talk of my Dad's Stranraer facebook group the day. Asking the players to take a paycut due to finances. Always wondered how they managed to sruvive on attendances of less than 300 on average.
My brother's a massive Stranraer fan. Secretary of the Tommy Sloan supporters club (membership of 1), stopped going when he moved away from Glasgow.

Stranraer were a very well run club, who knew where they existed in the community and acted accordingly. Bent over backwards for supporters in the 90s. Very sad if they're on the way out, however I wondered how long they could sustain the low attendances.
Attendance has never been great but 200 less 18 times a season equates to a lot of money for a small club. Probably 40k extra to be found per season. The club lotto (one of the first I think in Scotland) and the club bar have sustained them in the past. Recent financial climate doesn't help.

Think he's out of contract then too?

Seems mental from Dundee. Decent move by Hibs tho

Used to love the New Year programme of the past in our top League

The way the fixtures are planned these days has ruined the excitement of looking forward to playing the Huns on the 1st or 2nd

Bizarrely, the English top League has a full programme over two days when they never used to play on New Years Day

I take the opposite view from this.

No way we should be persisting with a full league fixture list right through the winter. If anything the break should have started back in mid December.

The whole New Years Day fixture list is a tradition that should be left in the past, when the sport was less physically intense and sports science didn't exist. The scheduling in the English league looks horrific as well. 48 hours between games? Mental. That's asking for players to end up injured.

He's a good keeper, the other 2 they have are in the tradition of Hibs keepers, minging.

Bain is a cracking keeper - Hibs have won a watch with that one.

Unsurprisingly, Lenny is building a really solid side there. They could have enough in the tank to pip Rangers to 3rd this year, but with some decent additions (and not too many departures) they could supplant Aberdeen as our nearest challengers next season.

They will be doing well to finish 4th. They have drawn too many games this season already.

Not strictly SPFL-related, but anyone who's played competitive football at any level in Edinburgh will probably have come across the one and only Brian Latto, a grassroots referee of 50-odd years experience.

For the princely sum of £40, you got two hours of Brian's time, a bit of banter and offside calls of extremely dubious quality, usually made from the centre-circle, and often followed by a yellow card for taking the lord's name loudly and profanely in vain.

Brian sadly passed away recently, and will be missed by an awful lot of people on this side of the land - as evidenced by the growing pile of memories of the man on Youth Football Scotland's Facebook page.

I've no idea how many matches he enabled to happen, but it must be in the thousands. He was, in short, the kind of un-sung hero who helps support the game, and an absolute gentleman into the bargain.

I once encountered a shinty referee like that in my very short career enjoying that sport.

I would agree. Hibs for fourth place. There is no way they will finish higher than the sheep or sevco. Their form goes up and down like a h**r's knickers.
Edit: Which would still be a good season.
