Motherwell 2-0 up. Josh Law with the goal. He was playing English conference football last season.

FFS summer football summer football summer football NOW!!! The fuds in the SFA are just trying to protect their holidays. The video Tom English tweeted about it gives some of the reasons the SFA don't want to do it and they're unbelievable. Something needs to be done. We need it. |

The problem isn't climate, it's failure from Scottish teams in Europe other than Celtic. |

Oh do you not, Remy? Then Don't! Irish teams, who are apparently not as good as us, are out performing Scottish teams in Europe. We either need to do something to help us in Europe or the coefficient is going to drop until it's bye bye CL. |

Summer football won't make Keith Lasley or Willo Flood a better player. |

Summer football will help us in Europe. Teams will be fitter for qualifiers and be able to use a style of football that works on good surfaces. It's lunacy to have the most important games for Scottish football be the first games after a holiday. |

If they aren't fit that is the problem of their coaches and themselves. Edit - Motherwell were playing a team of part timers and threw away a two goal lead. St Johnstone. Half decent result but they are better away than at home. Aberdeen already had two competitive games and this was Gronigen's first. It's nothing to do with fitness. It's ability. No teams are ever 100% fit when the season starts. You only get that from playing several games... during summer

Celtic played four friendlies. Non competitive games in Austria which no-one was forced to watch or pay for as part of an ST. They then proceeded to run the legs off their part time opponents in the second half. That's because we are fitter. If Motherwell lacked fitness then they got their pre-season wrong. Their issue. However, McCall doesn't really GAF about Europe. He treats it as part of their pre season. Aberdeen and St Johnstone are fit. |

On a plus note 3 Scottish teams played in Europe and none lost, also outside of ourselves last 2 years we are picking up more co-efficient points than we have for a while. All of them have a chance of getting through. |

Irish teams are not out performing Scottish teams in Europe. The Irish league was the worst performer in the whole of Europe last season. I'm another who has zero interest in summer football. |

I don't think summer football will be a goer here, school holidays = lower attendances, weather can still be pish, too many competing sports on @ the same time & just think of winter in Scotland without football. By all means start early & have a winter break (won't mean better conditions but rest from continual playing/recovery for injuries) but summer football isn't a fix to shampooe coaching & footballers who can't trap a ball. |
