Hearts have struggled to be our main rival even when they took the same field as us. I can understand folk missing the trip or even the circus they bring, but Hearts have struggled to bring competition to anything bar their own sanity for years.

Anyone who misses Hearts should get a seat in the East corner of the South Stand next time we are at Fir Park. The inhabitants of the Motherwell support closest to that area will happilly provide all the abuse they will miss out on at Tynecastle.

Never thought I'd see the day

I am absolutely delighted that Hearts have now officially confirmed their relegation and if they subsequently enter liquidation, I will not shed a tear and will afford myself a wry smile along with a hasty search for Lithuanian vodka.

But I just can't allign myself with those who are so dismissive over what their relegation means for Celtic as a support. I will always consider Rangers' liquidation as one of the greatest days of my life. But I missed the "Old Firm" games in June 2012, December 2012, June 2013, December 2013 and will until we play them. By referring to Sevco as "them", that doesn't lessen my opinion that they are a new club. But they still play at Ibrox in front of significant, if wildly exaggerated, attendances. They still have the same supporters; the second biggest fanbase in Scottish football by miles; which incorporates the same mindset I despise. They still have the same inept manager in "Super Ally" and they are still huns - who deserve to be scrutinised and will remain of keen interest to us, as the popularity of the Sevco thread demonstrates.

All of the above doesn't change and neither does the rivalry. It's exactly the same with Hearts. Opposition to financial mismanagement and sectarianism doesn't have to be mutually exclusive to missing genuine competition and the match-day banter that accompanies it. Jock Stein once said football without the fans is nothing. I believe he was right but also believe that includes sporting hate, and the wider social context within that sporting hate. Not the sort of hate that has terrorised our manager for 13 years, nor the sort of hate that was vastly institutionalised in Scottish society. But games where winning is more than just one team scoring more goals than the opposition, are priceless. I don't attend many away games but I was at the 7-0 Gorgie Gauging and my adrenaline was pumping throughout and the 'bonfire song' was still in my head days later. That may have just been the top club defeating the bottom club in a preliminary Scottish Cup tie, but the gloating in that game and all 3 occasions we've played at Tynecastle will not be replicated away at Dundee or Hamilton. Can't we laugh at the demise of the clubs we despise, without neglecting to acknowledge the detriment it has on meaningful domestic fixtures? If Hibs also join Hearts in relegation, only 1/11 of our fellow SPFL clubs will have a stadium with a capacity above 15,000; excluding Killie who have an average attendance roughly 20% of what Rugby Park holds. That's not a situation that will entice fairweather Celtic fans to buy season tickets, and it's no good pretending otherwise.

When will people come to acknowledge that The huns and the minis are gone?

Do you miss shopping at Woolworth's? It was an institution on High Streets for 100 years(?). It went bust and has been replaced by Poundland et al.

Same with the Deidco and anyone else who self destructs. They are dead and gone and no amount of wishing for the adrenaline fix of old will change anything. Scottish football is changing for the good. If you only followed the game just for the thrill of putting one over on various hunnish clubs you can leave now.

It's no longer relevant.

Football is nothing without rivalry. Who are our rivals now? Nobody and thats sad in my opinion. We have had a brilliant SPFL season but there was very little buzz or sense of must winning games during it which again is sad.

So when the huns/newco/sevco do find themselves in the Premier League in a year or so your seat will be empty for the derby games I take it?

Hearts have survived one vote from UBIG today, and if, and it is only an if at this point, they survive the Ukio Bankas meeting, they'll have likely escaped with a CVA.

They would therefore have suffered a mere relegation (albeit one with no guarantee of promotion straight back up) and at times the humiliation of this season, but with their club and their stadium in tact. When you consider the debt mountain they had disastrously piled up over the years, that would not be too bad an outcome for them.

That might disappoint from one perspective, but from another it will make the Monkeys flip their lid even more which would be quite a thing.

That division will be like cats in a sack next year. Should be worth a few laughs.

I tend to watch Celtic no matter who we're playing, so it's not like the fact that Hearts aren't around any more is going to change my habits all that much. And while it's just a fact that people turned out in droves for our games against the huns (and were generally nowhere to be seen a week later) I didn't really notice a bump in visitors to the CSC for Hearts games this year. All that said, people like an "edge" to games and Hearts certainly did their best to provide it by being a shower of hateful scumbags. I'm not going to miss them for that, though.

Joint statement from BDO and Ukio due this afternoon. No date set for the Ukio creditors meeting.

No apparent indication on what this means for the Diets. No agreement means potentially running out of cash?

Sure I heard a radio report that they would run out of cash towards the end of April. I took that to mean they cant pay the next round of wages.

Winning against a team/support you truly feel hatred for is one of the better feelings in football, mainly due to the GIRFUY factor.

The Huns, both the Full Fat Zombies and the Diet version, will give us plenty of opportunities for GIRFUY moments without them ever having to darken Celtic Park's doors.

Must be getting that way.

Sure the former SPL provided Gretna with their TV cash early to allow them to fulfil the rest of their fixtures following administration. Could imagine the SPFL doing something similar.

Now the BBC are suggesting there will be no statement from Ukio. Doesn't sound healthy.

Ukio are ones with a security over Tynecastle though. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they think they can raise more via an asset sale after liquidation than the £2.5Mill on offer now

Was chatting with a Jambo fan in Edinburgh today.... he says tynecastle was valued at about £4mill with planning permission for redevelopment

Permission has now lapsed....question is whether you take the £2.5mll on offer or see if you can reinstate planning consent.... Add in costs of that /costs of sale etc and see whether you are left with more

Could be a difficult decision to make ??
