I see tomorrow's fish and chip wrappers are claiming that Roman Abramobich has an interest in picking up 55% of Hibs. Nothing but denials issuing forth from Easter Road....and in truth it would be a strange move for him.

The story is likely to be bollocks, but I wonder if Abramovich taking over invested in Hibs would be good or bad for Hibs...

On the one hand, it could work wonders for a big club that have hit a real low in their history and make them a real force. But on the other hand, sugar-daddy comes and goes and leaves a big shampooty mess for someone else to wipe up a la the jam tarts and huns...

I thought it was against the rules to have interests in two clubs

That said hibs as a training ground for Chelseas B team would make me laugh watching them wipe the floor with the huns and their cousins

He already has an interest in two clubs: Chelsea and CSKA Moscow.

He is rumored to be looking at Real Mallorca, Corinthians and Hapoel Tel Aviv. The first two would presumably be pretty expensive -- particularly Corinthians since they would come with a brand new, almost finished stadium. Hibs on the other hand could be had at bargain basement prices. I wonder how that would pan out -- it's a model we've never had in Scotland: a wealthy sugar daddy buying otherwise unaffordable high-quality players with his own money.

Seemingly Terry Butcher has been sacked by Hibs.

I suppose he thought he was the man that could turn that club around, but he was in a perfectly comfortable job at Inverness and must regret leaving to join Hibs.

Whoever takes over has their work cut out at that club.

:ponder: The huns never really had a sugar daddy despite what the media would have you believe - Murray spent very little (if any!) of his own money on them.

Unless you're counting the tax payers and other creditors who were shafted as their sugar daddy of course.

Yesterday's meeting between Tom Farmer and Paul Kane.

Tom Farmer - Paul, would you mind keeping this conversation completely confidential?
Paul Kane - Absolutely, Sir Tom. I will keep schtum.
Tom Farmer - how would you like a job at Easteroad, perhaps as my adviser, a kind of 'go between' between myself and the fans? I will of course make it financially worth your while.
Paul Kane - why that is very generous of you, Sir Tom. I accept.

Edinburgh Evening News headlines in two months time:

ROD PETRIE SACKS PAUL KANE.
