There seems to some fans on here desperate to talk up an "exciting" clash between Celtic and Hamilton Academicals. Quite honestly if there is no CL football at Celtic next season then I would expect the club to shut more than one part of the stadium re lack of fans to fill seats. Desperate times.
Who is talking up Hamilton Accies ? And how many fans do Hibs bring to CP ?
This discussion occurred a few pages back.
Some of us think it would be better for the league, and, by deflection, us , if Hibs, rather than Hamilton, were in the SPFL next season.
At least Hibs have a stadium with four sides.

Whether Butcher should have kept Hibs up is neither here or there for me.

I am just looking forward to watching Butcher take on Super Salary. He is one of the few ex gers that will not defer to the sleekit one :ph43r:

Some of us prefer sporting competition to be based on sporting achievement

Unfortunately Hibs have a squad full of crap players to play on their stadium with a grass pitch and four sides .. hence they wil be in the lower division next year where they deserve to be

Hibs are keech. They are where they deserve to be.

If you take your argument to the logical conclusion, Sevco should be in the top league.

While I'd like to see a more competitive SPFL in which the bigger clubs have strong teams, I couldn't care less if Hibs, Hearts and Sevco are all in the championship.

Hibs deserve to be there because they weren't good enough.

Hearts deserve to be there because of financial mismanagement.

And Sevco are a new club working there way up the leagues.

As with Fat Sam at West 'Am... Butcher was the wrong manager to put into that situation.

But I suspect he's probably the right guy to get them back out of it.

Remove the 'bigger clubs' bit and the top league will be very competitive next year.

Aberdeen, Motherwell, Dundee Utd, and possibly St Johnstone will battle it out for 2nd.

IMO, Inverness, Kilmarnock, and possibly Dundee & Thistle could battle for the last top 6 spot with some good signings, and I reckon the bottom 6 will end up the same as this season, only with the automatic relegation spot being contested right until the end as well.

Exactly, we get told from the MSM that McCall is doing an excellent job with Motherwell and has them playing well, the manager of the year  is still at Aberdeen, the much loved youthful vibrant DUFC are still in the league, The Scottish cup winners are still in the league. Constantly told that these are good teams so just because hearts and hibs are relegated does not = pish league.

Dundee with additional signings will definitely challenge for the top 6, still have the glasgow derby in the top flight, plus the dundee derby and the new firm derby

Ram all this talk about the championship will be the better league, it will blood and snotters football...

It won't be a better standard of football, but it'll potentially be more interesting than the Premiership.

Put it this way, there'll be more interest on here in Rangers/Hearts/Hibs than there will be in any of the other 11 teams in the top flight.

Maybe for the fact that Hearts, Hibs or Sevco could win the league, I personally won't be going out of my way to check the results in the lower leagues. Haven't done it so far and won't be starting now.

Yep. Unless we make a spectacular mistake with the new manager we'll win the league easily enough, but I'd expect at least eight of the remaining teams to be significantly better than any of the teams in the ludicrously named "Championship", and they're all fairly evenly matched so it should make for a good, competitive league.

No doubt it would be better financially if those strong teams came from clubs with bigger supports, but those bigger clubs are where they are because they've been run by idiots and/or crooks. Hibs and Hearts should use this coming season as a chance to start afresh (a process Hearts have already started, to their credit), and maybe they can come back up next year and gradually get themselves into a position to challenge for the European places. They'll have to overcome the honest mistakes to both come back up of course, but as Sevco are still being run by idiots and crooks they'll hopefully just eff off and die like the old huns did at some point.
