There was, remarkably, a game later in that season in which the sheep went 2-0 up inside the first 15 minutes at Celtic Park, though on that occasion the Bellamy effect enabled us to come back and win 3-2, with Craig scoring a belter of a winner.

Of course, Hibs came and pumped us a couple of weeks later - with a certain young Scott Brown on the scoresheet :suspect: - and all of a sudden the lead we had over the huns didn't feel so comfortable.
Then there Was the Derby Rab Douglas decided to have a complete shampooer in. Let a Gregory Vignal shot right in from 30-yards :ffs:
The only time MON ever lost a home game to the huns.
Horrible season :twitch:

bellamys debut. he missed a sitter in first half. we hammered them until douglas chucked one in. if bellamy had put his chance away we would have took another 2 or 3 off them easy.

so many daft moments like that spring to mind in the 2 titles we lost under mon. like chasing a winner and austin mccan scoring in injury time on the break at tynecastle 2 years previous. a draw would have been enough to win the title in hindsight

I went to watch that game in Joxer Daly's in LA after the Bernard Hopkins/ Howard Eastman fight. MON picked bad time to lose his first home game against de Hun. :nono:

No shame to fall a little behind O'Neill's 2003 steamroller, indeed it will be incredible if we're anywhere close by the end of the year.

That's six domestic clean sheets on the bounce - six and a half games since Rodgers hooked DDV at half time against Kilmarnock - and Gordon's 100% record in league and cup since then has to vindicate that decision, as well as providing some martial arts entertainment :boxer:

That team had a point to prove and ample motivation after seeing the huns do the treble. No reason why we can't better that record though.

We lost 3-2. They went 2-0 up after 6 mins, Hartson scored twice to equalise then they scored a 94th minute winner.

First time I ever attended a game at Parkhead that we lost
Me and my dad had trouble getting parked that night, so got in the ground at ten to eight.
As we got to our seats, Celtic were taking centre.
Great, I thought, a late kick off.

Took me a few minutes to realise what had happened. :ffs:

With no fixture changes it'd be Motherwell on 18th February. Surely inconceivable we could win the league quite so early

We wouldn't. The gap assumes Aberdeen will continue to drop points at the same rate through the season. You couldn't mathematically clinch the league at a point where the second place team could technically (not in a month of Sundays, but still a possibility) go on a 100% run to the end of the season.

We've got Sevco at Parkhead for fixture 28, only a possible 30 points up for grabs after that. Do you think we could clinch it by then by opening up such a gap?

December Fixtures

03/12/16 Motherwell (Away)
09/12/16 Partick Thistle (Away)
13/12/16 Hamilton (Home)
17/12/16 Dundee (Home)

20/12/16 Partick Thistle (Home)
24/12/16 Hamilton (Away)
28/12/16 Ross County (Home)
31/12/16 Rangers (Away)

Four matches away from going a year unbeaten in the league; continuing the winning streak through December would be a tremendous achievement, surely even if we do so there's little hope we could keep clean sheets too

An odd feature of December is that our eight matches - four home and away - will all be in Lanarkshire (incorporating Glasgow), Motherwell being our most distant trip. No excuses for not putting them all to the sword :arrr:

Questioning those stats for MONs first season. Almost positive our 13th match was against Motherwell and strangely enough was a 3-3 draw, meaning that year we would have had 35 points after 13 games?
The parallels are striking between MON's and BR's first seasons. Four goal victories in the first huns match, walking the league already at this early stage (obviously huns closer in MON's time) and winning the LC final 3-0. Long may it continue!

St Johnstone beat us in May .

As long as the result at ipox isnt the same :twitch:
