Don't mean to be critical, but should we not be comparing like for like?

Not sure it's as useful to compare our match 3 with previous years' match 4

I agree. With European football and the reintroduction of the winter break this year we're probably not going to have the 'week 2' Partick Thistle fixture rearranged until February. Definitely better to compare like for like.

Rodgers off to a tremendous start, just one goal off the record start in 2002. Arguably a better start though, having played Hearts, St. Johnstone, Aberdeen and Rangers thus far whereas the opening four in 2002 consisted of Dunfermline, Aberdeen, Dundee Utd. and Partick Thistle. Dembele kept it respectable today with just a hatrick - imagining what Griffiths is hauding back for Barca

We need to cut out conceding so many goals. Aside from it make the stats look bad, who knows GD might be important at the end of the season.

Today's draw leaves us 2 points off the pace, dropping 5 places. The goals scored columns are just about justifying the level of those conceded. Sutton isn't giving up on Gordon's cause, remains to be seen whether the manager will keep his colours nailed to de Vries :ponder:

Today's super six means we have scored two more goals at home than the previous highest (2003) and one more in total than the incredible 22 in 2007's first six games. Conversely the 8 goals conceded equals the previous highest in 2005 & 2008, which is a ratio we may accept for the SPFL but the sloppy defence is likely to cause concern for the Champions League. Roll on Man City :rocker:

Anyone know at what point we can catch up with those O'Neill & Lennon seasons? Been an excellent start to the season, making that late Inverness blemish all the more irritating.

If we win our next 2 league games (Motherwell home and Ross County away), we'll have made our best start to a season this century.

Eminantly do-able. That midweek trip to Dingwall is in a really awkward spot, sandwiched between Sevco and Pittodrie, but there's no reason we can't do it.

There's definitely a feel about the place that hasn't been there since the O'Neill days

A couple of points on methodology for this comparison of first league seasons for Celtic managers. All are based on 3pts for a win for equivalence, whereas pre-1994 actual points would be proportionately less. Includes all Celtic managers in place from the start of a league season, therefore includes Sean Fallon and Billy McNeill's second stint, but not Macari or Dalglish. Jimmy McStay is omitted due to having been in charge in the unofficial inter-war years competition.

It would seem Northern Irishmen make good Celtic managers; Southern Irishmen and foreigners less so

Unless Celtic Wiki's made a mistake somewhere, after tonight we've not only made our greatest start to a league season this century...

We've made our greatest start to a league season for 50 years, since the 1966/67 season when we won it all :worthy:

1966/67 = P9 W8 D1 L0 F34 A10 Pts 25/27 GD +24
2016/17 = P9 W8 D1 L0 F30 A8 Pts 25/27 GD +22
